About this file

This document is a Questions & Answers (Q&A) addendum for the Vinyl Graphic Printing & Installation/Removal Services solicitation issued by the Detroit Transportation Corporation (DTC). The document contains four questions and answers dated 01/15/2025, addressing key details about the solicitation, including vinyl graphic application specifications, contract rates, and artwork requirements. Specifically, the Q&A clarifies that vendors should provide estimated costs to fully wrap trains in vinyl, include removal costs in their bid, and understand that the contract rates are estimates to pre-approve a select group of vendors for future projects.

The Q&A reveals that DTC's primary goal is to establish a pool of pre-approved vendors for vinyl graphic printing and installation services, with flexibility in vendor selection based on availability. The contract rates submitted are understood to be estimates, and the selected vendor(s) will be provided artwork in their requested format. The solicitation appears designed to create a flexible vendor roster that DTC can draw from when graphic printing and installation needs arise, allowing the organization to quickly engage contractors for transit-related graphic applications on various surfaces such as trains, glass, and cement columns.

Buying Organization Detroit Transportation Corporation

No Question/Answer Question Date

Q10 Question: Marketing Example #1

Regarding marketing example #1 it would appear that the majority of the train is paint with a small wrappable area for vinyl. Should we bid advertising size wrappable areas (King Kong, Queen etc.) or quote to wrap the whole surface area?

Answer: There is no paint on the train, it is all vinyl, therefore based upon the specs provided, you should provide and estimated cost to 'wrap the train' in vinyl.

Q17 Question: Contract Rates

Will the contract rates entered into the Bid Form apply to the projects or will the successful proposer quote for individual requirements?

Answer: The contract rates entered, we understand are estimates. We are trying to 'vette' a select number of vendors so when a job presents itself, we have vendors who are pre-approved by DTC to work with. This way, if we begin with one vendor and they are not available we have others to call.
