The Statement of Need TIMS Trade-in Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center (RMRVAMC) 1700 Wheeling Street, Aurora, CO 80045
GENERAL: RMRVAMC’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services (PMRS), 1700 N. Wheeling Street, Aurora, CO, 80045, requires the replacement of each of our two (2) fluoroscopy suites in the radiology department.
BACKGROUND: PMRS requires the replacement for both of our TIMS imaging equipment systems. The manufacturer considers this equipment to be end-of-life and can no longer offer support/maintenance agreement after five (5) years. This date was September 29, 2024, after which the service agreement has expired and equipment no longer eligible for service contracts. This is critical equipment used for approximately 10-15 fluoroscopic swallow studies each week.
PURPOSE: PMRS needs to have equipment that can be repaired in timely fashion. The swallow studies are critically important for outpatients as well as Veterans currently admitted to inpatient hospital units including the ICU and Spinal Cord Injury unit. Furthermore, RMRVAMC is the only facility in ECHCS where these tests can be completed. The TIMS equipment is critical in providing ability to record and review swallow studies. We require one system in each of our two (2) fluoroscopy suites in the radiology department.
SCOPE: RMRVAMC’s PMRS is required to improve patient outcomes by providing speech pathology team with diagnostic quality imagery, patient safety by reducing the need to re-radiate patients due to inadequate images, fluoroscopy room efficiency with a significantly streamlined workflow. Provide better patient outcomes and better patient safety equating to increased patient satisfaction and retention. Reducing the risk of HIPAA violations by eliminating the use of removable media containing patient information. Dramatical increases access to MBS studies by archiving to PACS instead of storing on DVD in a filing cabinet.
