Question # QUESTION ANSWER

Exhibit B Drawings: With regard to plan sheets A101a, A101b, A102a, & A102b: There are wall type references (OF658S) sporadically shown at the exterior walls. Is it the intent to have all the interior perimeter wall surfaces finished floor to deck? Or only where this wall type is specifically shown? There are also “Note 13” tags sporadically shown. Is this note to be typical or only where they are specifically noted? It is unclear, because there are double lines indicating partitions in some areas and not in others.

Per industry standard notation, wall type references are typical for the length of walls as indicated. Per details on sheet A- 611, this is a full height partition, floor slab to slab above.

Note 13 tags indicate locations of rated enclosures for columns and framing associated with support of shaft penetration enclosures in addition to detail references.

Exhibit B Drawings:“CLG-1” is listed as an OPTION and we are told to NOT include it in the scope of work. On the finish schedule (A-700) many rooms are scheduled to receive CLG-1 and be painted PT-3. Should we assume the entire ceiling/deck in these rooms are to be painted PT-3 and ignore CLG-1?

CLG-1 is in the scope of the firm fixed price amount of the contract, is not an optional item, and shall be priced in the Total Bid Price. The contractor shall paint ceiling/decks PT-3.

The solicitation has no bid options.

Exhibit A Specifications Section 07 81 00: Spray-Applied Fireproofing:

We could not find any fire rated details or notes showing or mentioning spray –applied fireproofing. Are the structural steel and steel deck augmentations required to receive spray-applied fireproofing?

The contractor shall comply with floor plan key note number 13 referencing details 1, 10 and 11 on A-500. Also refer to G- 002, General Note number 22.

Exhibit A Specifications Section 23 09 53.00 20 Page 27: 1. States to provide high-speed actuators for laboratory terminal unit actuators. With no variable volume fume hoods, only constant volume exhaust snorkels, fast acting actuators will cost considerably more and will not provide better control for this application. Will standard actuators be accepted?

Lab grade high speed actuators for laboratory terminal unit actuators are required as specified. Standard actuators will not be accepted.

Exhibit A Specifications Section 23 09 53.00 20 Page 26 2.f: Requires a fail-safe option on the valve to fail either open or close as noted on project plans. The plans did not specify the fail safe position. Since this is a constant volume exhaust system will valves that fail in the last position be accepted?

Actuators associated with exhaust shall fail open. Preheat valves shall fail open. All others shall coordinate with the control sequence or default to fail close.

Exhibit B Drawings Page M-602: Under the Steam and Condensate Pump Sequence of Control it states the steam pressure reducing stations shall modulate to maintain steam pressure. This is typically achieved by two mechanically operated steam pressure reducing valves. Please clarify that this sequence is not applicable to BAS control of the steam pressure reducing valves.

The BAS shall control the sequencing of the PRVs per the sequence defined on sheet M-602.

Exhibit B Drawings Page M-606: Shows points for the condensate recovery pumps. There is no means for BAS control with this type of pump. Please confirm no BAS control of condensate pumps.

Condensate recovery pumps shall be provided with internal controller and operate independent from the BAS. BAS shall monitor for Alarms.

Exhibit B Drawings Page M-602: Shows pressure sensors on the supply and return piping out of each heat exchanger. The points list for the hot water system calls for steam pressure. Please clarify that the desired pressure readings are located on the low pressure steam going into each heat exchanger and not on the hot water side of the heat exchangers.

Pressure sensors shall be located on the supply and return piping on the steam and hot water side to monitor the pressure drop through the exchanger.

Exhibit B Drawings: The points list on page M-606 calls for a bypass valve on the hot water system. There is no hot water bypass valve shown on page M-602. With only two-way hot water valves on the controlled equipment, a bypass valve will maintain minimum flow through the heat exchangers. Please clarify whether a hot water bypass valve is required, and if so provide its location and size.

A bypass valve on the hot water side is not required. The points list on page M-606 is referring to the bypass on the steam side upstream of the heat exchanger.

Currently, building 1230 already has a new Trane DDC system. This system is currently interfaced to the base wide Trane ES server located at NASA B1215. This system is also integrated into the base wide Global Information system (GIS) System. Is it the intent for the BAS system under this project to be an extension of the existing BAS system and fully interfaced to the base wide server and GIS system?

The BAS system is an extension of the existing BAS system and fully interfaced to the base wide server system. The BAS requirements are established in Exhibit A Specifications Section 23 09 53.00 20, page 6, paragraph 1.4.

Exhibit B Drawings: 11 fire/smoke combination dampers and 2 smoke dampers are shown on the HVAC equipment. On drawing E-220A and E- 221A 120V connections are shown to 7 of these fire/smoke combination dampers. Please confirm that the remaining 6 fire/smoke dampers have 120V connections by division 26.

Yes, all fire/smoke combination dampers require a 120V connection.

Are specifications for the Wood Doors available? Section 08 14 00 Wood Doors is incorporated into Exhibit A

Specifications via Amendment 5.

13 Exhibit B Drawings: Please confirm Door Type & Frame Type for Door 133-3.

Per Door Schedule on sheet A-600, door type 1 and frame type B.

14 Exhibit B Drawings: Please confirm CLG-1 is “Not-in-Contract” per ceiling legend in A-110 thru A-112

CLG-1 is to be priced in the Total Bid Price. There are no bid options.

15 Exhibit B Drawings: Please provide Dwg A-200 Exterior Elevation. Provided as part of Amendment 000002, dated 12/18/2015.

16 Exhibit B Drawings: Request Specification 115360 for Snorkel as stated in DWG Q-402

The snorkel (EQ-01) is specified in Exhibit A Specifications Section 12 36 10.

17 Exhibit B Drawings: Please clarify locations of the Defibrillator Cabinets. See Exhibit B Drawings Sheet FA-101B and FA-102B for proposed locations in Lobby H1A and Lobby H2A.

Exhibit A Specifications Section 12 24 13- Roller Window shades:

Please provide locations, sizes, and quantities of Roller Window Shades.

There is a key legend on the RCP plans referring to them but no discernible way to locate or quantify them. Please clarify a Window Schedule, including widths, heights, locations of the shades? Pocket or no for mounting? Are there manual or motorized shades and clarification of light filtering, fabric. and openness?

A window schedule is not required. Refer to sheet A-101a Floor Plan Keynote 6 and details 8 and 9 on sheet A-500.

There are no manual or motorized roller shades on the project.

Exhibit A Specifications 07 81 00 and Exhibit B Drawings Fire Protection Note 22 in G-002:, States a 1-hour intumescent paint on “Beams and columns”. Please clarify and show the intended extent of this requirement. Does this apply to the whole second floor and roof framing plans?

The 1-hour fireproofing applies to areas of the structure that are specifically rated at exit stairs, mechanical shafts and at elevator hoistways only. This does not apply to the whole second floor and roof framing only at specific areas. Per sheet G-002, Fire Protection Note 22: PROVIDE A 1-HOUR

INTUMESCENT PAINT ON BEAMS AND 1-HOUR FIRE

CONSTRUCTION FOR ALL STRUCTURAL COLUMNS FOR

MECHANICAL SHAFTS. All structural members supporting rated shafts shall be fire rated per the notes and details. For beams meet UL 263 DESIGN NO. N613, for columns meet UL

263 DESIGN NO. X526.

Exhibit B Drawings: The SS-4.5 slab infills, on S-101, along column line C, are only 12” wide. This is too narrow to install the support angles for the deck, per Detail 7 on S-301. Demo Plan Note #6 tells us to infill existing floor openings less than 2’-0” in width or length by fastening a 3/8” steel plate to the underside of the flat slab, with Hilti Anchors. In this case it would be the bottom of the beam. Please clarify that these openings should be infilled per Note #6.

The slab infills on sheet S-101 along column line C are at a concrete beam and Demo Plan Note #6 would apply in this case.

Confirm that the 2nd floor and roof slabs are slabs-on-deck and provide the depth of the exiting slabs.

Reference Sec 01 33 00 Paragraph 1.3.5, Contractor's responsibilities, regarding field verifications. The 2nd floor and roof slabs are a combination of concrete slab on steel decking and formed concrete on steel beams which shall be verified in the field and the slab depth is variable and shall also be verified in the field.

Request clarification for support of the galvanized deck for the narrow SS-

4.5 slab infills on S-102, along column line C.

At this specific location along column line C there are double steel beams along the column line. The design intent is to place steel decking attached to the steel beams and in-fill with normal weight concrete topping.

The infill of small holes on S-101 with self-leveling topping concrete, per Demo Plan Note #6, may not be feasible the holes will be 7.5” to 8” deep.

Regular concrete may work better. The self-leveling topping concrete is used more for patching or leveling of a floor, with a thickness of up to ¼” or up to an inch with aggregate added.

The depth of small opening are variable and shall be verified in the field. Use self-leveling concrete topping where depressions are less than 1-inch and use normal weight concrete topping with a bonding agent for depressions more than 1-inch.

How deep are the depressions on S-101, to be infilled, per Demo Plan Note 5, with self-leveling concrete topping? If they are only about an inch, the self-leveling topping concrete will work, but if they are over an inch, regular concrete with a smaller aggregate will work better. Contractor would need to apply an epoxy bonding agent, which is standard practice.

The self-leveling topping concretes are made more for leveling or patching a floor and not made for depths of over an 1”. Please clarify the depth of the depressions and if the regular concrete can be used, with a bonding agent, when the depth is over an 1”.

The depth of depressions are variable and shall be verified in the field. Use self-leveling concrete topping where depressions are less than 1-inch and use normal weight concrete topping with a bonding agent for depressions more than 1-inch.

Request clarification on the storefront. The specifications state the basis of design is a Kawneer 451T storefront, which is not a large missile impact system. However, further the Specifications call for a large missile impact system. Please clarify what is required. If impact resistant is required, is it blast related, which would require Stand Off Distance and explosive category?

Correction made to specification. Section 08 41 13, Paragraph 1.3.2.2, Impact Resistance, is deleted via Amendment 5. The basis of design Kawneer 451T meets the requirements in ASTM E1886 and ASTM F1642. There are no additional stand-off or blast requirements for the storefront glass.
