About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) record for Solicitation SEMAT RENOVATION RFQ N6264926QE010, containing eight clarifications addressing contractor inquiries about a roof renovation project.

Key clarifications include: no architectural drawings are available for the project; existing stairs should not be relied upon due to unknown condition; a signed solicitation document is the required offer submission; a one-year warranty is mandatory; handrails may be removed at the contractor's discretion to facilitate repairs; paint standards must comply with United States standards regarding lead-based paint; the temporary pier/bridge structure (brow) currently on the roof will be permanently removed and not reinstalled; and if handrails are removed, associated cables can be rerouted along wall-mounted pegs that serve as the power supply for the CO2/Engraving Shop. These responses establish project parameters and constraints that bidders must consider when developing their renovation proposals.

Solicitation SEMAT RENOVATION RFQ N6264926QE010

RFI’s with Responses:

1. Could you please provide any available drawings (roof layout or dimensions).

A: There are no drawings for this project.

2. The existing stairs shown in the attached photo appear to be old. Are they available for contractors to use for accessing the rooftop?

A: The condition of the stairs is unknown and therefore should not be considered for use.

3. What is the required documentation for offer submission?

A: A signed solicitation is required.

4. What type of warranty is required?

A: A one-year warranty is required.

5. Do the handrails need to stay on the roof of the building?

A: The handrails do not need to stay on the building. If the contractor wants to remove all of it, to make it easier for the repairs, that is fine. From what it sounds like, SEMAT doesn’t care either way if it stays or if it is removed. Just my opinion, it looks like it should be removed as most are detached from the base. Some are only used for the additional roof, and it can be disposed of if the contractor and use another way to attach additional roofing.

6. What are the requirements for paint? Do they need to follow American or Japanese standards?

A: Should utilize United States standards if referring to lead-based paint.

7. Will the temporary pier/bridge structure be placed on the roof in the same manner as before construction?

A: The brow that is on the roof will be permanently removed. We will not be putting it back where it currently is.

8. If the handrail is to removed what happens to the cable that runs alongside? What happens to the cable?

A: It can be run on the area that looks like pegs sticking out of the wall. This is the power supply for the CO2/Engraving Shop.
