About this file
This document is a technical specification from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development for extruded aluminum sign panels, specifically covering two product sizes: a 6-inch panel (Product ID 51822) and a 12-inch panel (Product ID 11946). The specification details the requirements for aluminum panels used in sign fabrication, with precise manufacturing standards including compliance with ASTM B221 (Alloy 6063-T6), chromate conversion coating, and specific flatness tolerances. Panels will be supplied in 24' or 36' lengths, with pre-drilled assembly slots beginning 6" from the edge and then every 12" intervals.
The specification mandates strict packaging and delivery requirements, including panels being packaged back-to-back and face-to-face, secured with a minimum of four non-steel or coated bands, with each stack not exceeding 2000 pounds. Delivery must be made by open bed truck for easy forklift unloading, with panels tarped during shipment. A Certificate of Compliance must accompany each shipment, documenting that the materials meet the specified requirements. The panels must be free from grease, dirt, and loose phosphate coating, with all edge burrs removed to ensure quality and performance.
