1. Not a part of contract options.

2. If decided by USFS, the Contracting Officer will negotiate with the contractor to add this work to the project.

a. Furnish and install a new standby diesel power system generator, diesel fuel tank, diesel fuel line system and components, concrete pads for the generator and diesel fuel tank mounting, and concrete pad and provisions for vendor furnished trash com-pactor. The work would also include the demolition of the existing fences, retaining walls, clearing and grubbing of the area, existing concrete removal and disposal, ex-cavation to subgrade, aggregate base installation, propane tank relocation, installa-tion of revised locations for retaining walls, placement of new concrete slab on grade, new fencing, and surface restoration of the disturbed existing finishes.

1.06 UTILITY WORK

A. Prepare to add an electrical vault as shown on the contract drawings. Once ready for switchover, coordinate with the utility and Contracting Officer to schedule the loss of power period needed to disconnect utility power and re-connect power to the existing distribution panels DP1 & DP2 via the new main distribution switchboard. The contractor will pay for all expenses to the utility for work performed and any materials supplied by the utility.

B. Once the transformer has been disconnected by the utility, the transformer will be covered to pro-tect it during demolition and construction in the area. Demolition and excavation in transformer area can commence. Specific work included that relates to the primary power includes:

1. Field locate existing low voltage feeders, telephone cables, sewer and water lines at the service entrance to the Lodge. Verify that the precast vault, as specified, will work based on the locations found for the existing utilities, or propose a vault arrangement that will work based on the field location of utilities.

2. Install a new pre-cast concrete vault along the path of the existing feeders into the Mainte-nance Building.

3. It is preferred to replace distribution panels DP1 & DP2 at the same time as the addition of the vault to minimize downtime of power. Any plan other than simultaneous work on these items will require a written proposal from the contractor, justifying in terms of power outage and convenience to the Lodge operations.

C. Included as work for this project is any required testing and switching the Distribution panels back over to the existing feeders prior to the restoration of the utility power.

1.07 REUSE OF THE EXISTING SECONDARY FEEDER

A. The secondary feeder that goes between the utility transformer and the distribution panels in the basement is to be carefully preserved for reuse. Ensure the feeder conductors are not damaged during rework and installation of the Precast (in-ground) vault/junction box. Once the feeder has been disconnected from the distribution panels and the utility transformer, each conductor will be tested for continuity using a low resistance meter. Looping of conductor pairs is allowed to test both ends at the same physical point. Individual conductors shall be tested for insulation re-sistance using a megger of no less than 1500V. Testing is to be witnessed by a designated USFS representative and test results are to be submitted by the contractor. Retesting after all in-ground-work is complete to demonstrate that no damage occurred during the work will also be per-formed.
