About this file
This is Addendum No. 1 to the contract documents for the Alley Water Main Conversion Pacific Avenue Project issued by the Long Beach Public Utilities Department on August 27, 2026. The project involves water main infrastructure work identified under Specifications No. WD-56-22 and Drawing No. MC-5198. The addendum replaces Page 3 of 16 of the Bid Documents and modifies Bid Item No. A21 regarding the removal of existing fire hydrants and installation of dead-end main blow-offs. The quantity for this item (9 each) will be subject to direction by LBUD or its representative once the location of the existing fire hydrant has been confirmed. The addendum addresses bidder questions from the pre-bid meeting conducted on August 20, 2026, and requires all plan holders to submit a signed Addenda Acknowledgement form with their bid submittal.
The addendum clarifies that contractors and subcontractors must possess a valid California Class "A" General Engineering Contractor license and valid C-27 Landscaping Contractor licenses, with the latter required for restoration work on lawn and landscaped areas disturbed during construction of private copper water service lines and abandonment of existing service laterals. Specification Sections 01 10 00 and 01 22 00 provide additional details on restoration work requirements. Project inquiries should be directed to Carolina Avendano at (562) 570-2334. The bid schedule provided includes Phase 1 work items (A15-A24) and Phase 2 work items (B1-B10) covering various water infrastructure components with unit-based and lump-sum pricing structures.

BIDDERS QUESTIONS
The following question was asked at the pre-bid meeting conducted on August 20th, 2026 or submitted in writing for the ALLEY WATER MAIN CONVERSION PACIFIC AVENUE PROJECT, WD-56-22. Response to the question is included.
1. Question: The bidder requirements states, “The Contractor shall possess a valid California Class “A” General Engineering Contractor license at the time the Contract is awarded. The Contractor or subcontractor shall also possess valid C-27 Landscaping Contractor Licenses.
Failure to possess the specified license(s) will render the Bid as non-responsive.”
Is this a typo? If no, what work constitutes the requirement for the C-27 Landscaping License?
Answer: A C-27 license is required for work including, but not limited to, restoration of lawn and landscaped areas disturbed during the construction of private copper water service lines from the meter box to the private property connection, or during the abandonment of existing service laterals.
Please refer to Specification Sections 01 10 00 and 01 22 00 for additional details regarding the restoration work associated with the construction and abandonment of private copper water services.
A signed copy of the Addenda Acknowledgement form provided in Part 1 of the Bidding Requirements and a copy of this addendum must accompany the Bid Submittal.
Questions regarding the project shall be directed to Carolina Avendano at (562) 570- 2334.
Sincerely, Robert J. Verceles, P.E.
