Questions

1. The Scope of Work on page 46 of the solicitation indicates “ the government owns the 2.5 cuft tanks being used on the two deionizer systems” (item AA). The

9” tank shells that are currently being used are owned by the contractor. Correct?

What is the cubic footage of the 9” tanks?

Government Response: Yes. The cubic footage of the 9” tanks are not known.

2. What is the cubic footage of the 14” tanks that are referenced in the note on page

46 of the solicitation? (Please see the attached tank chart with 9” and 14” tanks highlighted for clarification of the cubic footages in the 9” and 14” tanks.)

Government Response: See RFQ amendment 001 and answer to number 1.

3. Are these 14” tanks full of ion exchange resin or are they empty?

Government Response: See RFQ amendment 001.

4. How many 14” tanks does the government own?

Government Response: See RFQ amendment 001

5. In general it seems that the government is paying a contractor to regenerate its own ion exchange resin float on item AA and deliver it to the Bld. 133 on a specific frequency. Is this correct?

Government Response: Yes

6. Could larger deionization tanks be used to reduce the frequency of yearly visits versus monthly to exchange the smaller type tanks that are currently being used?

Government Response: .No, please provide the sizes that are specified

7. Would the government entertain using an alternative pretreatment source prior to the mixed bed deionization tanks to reduce the frequency of exchange of the mixed bed deionization tanks and reduce the overall operating cost of the two tap fed deionization systems referenced in item AA?

Government Response: No, please provide the system as specified

8. Does the government also own the carbon tanks being used on the two deionized water systems in item AA?

Government Response: Just the 2.5 Cubic Feet tanks,

9. Item AC indicates 4 carbon tanks per year correct? Is this two carbon tanks for system # 1 and two carbon tanks for system # 2 over a 12 month period?

Government Response: Anticipate - 3 carbon tanks for system 1; 1 carbon tank for system 2

10. Item AB indicates 85 cartridges per year correct? What is the micron rating of these 20” prefilter cartridges?

Government Response: Yes, 85 filters may be required. The filter micron rating is 5.

11. If deionization system # 1 is serviced monthly and deionization system # 2 serviced quarterly and each require one prefilter per tank exchange these two deionization systems at the prescribed service frequency would use16 of the 85 requested prefilters per year. Are the remaining 69 prefilter cartridges changed by government employee and not the contractor?

Government Response: See RFQ amendment 001. All filter changes are required by the contractor.

12. Does the government own the and brine tank in item AD?
