About this file

This is an Invitation to Bid (ITB) radiation specifications document for the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) regarding the procurement of Luxel+ PA Dosimeter Badges. The ITB seeks qualified vendors to supply dosimeter badges that meet specific radiation detection and measurement standards. The document establishes the technical requirements and performance specifications that all submitted badges must satisfy, including detailed parameters for radiation sensitivity, accuracy, energy response, and durability to ensure compliance with occupational radiation monitoring standards.

The radiation specifications outlined in the ITB define critical performance criteria for the dosimeter badges, including acceptable ranges for dose measurement accuracy, energy dependency characteristics, and fade rates over specified time periods. Vendors are required to demonstrate that their Luxel+ PA Dosimeter Badges conform to established industry standards and regulatory requirements for radiation dosimetry. The specifications ensure that ADPH can reliably monitor radiation exposure for personnel working in healthcare, research, and other occupational settings where radiation protection is essential.

Text version

The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) seeks a supplier to supply Luxel+ PA Dosimeter Badges.

ADPH Address: 208 Legends Court

Prattville, Alabama 36066

Estimated number of badges to be purchased each year: 87

ADPH reserves the right to not award based on budget restrictions.

Specifications for the Luxel+ PA Dosimeter Badges:

• Self-contained packet with preloaded aluminum oxide crystalline material with four-element filter pack, heat-sealed, with a laminated light-tight paper wrapper, components sealed inside tamper-proof plastic blister pack.

• Option to add CR-39 component for neutron monitoring to blister pack.

• X/gamma (photon) dose range reading capability: 1 mrem-1000 rem. Beta dose measurement range: 10 mrem to 1000 rem. Neutron dose measurement capability:

Neutron energy range (fast): 40 keV to 40 MeV -Dose Measurement Range: 20 mrem to 25 rem (200 μSv to 250 mSv); Neutron energy range (fast, intermediate, thermal):

0.25 eV to 40 MeV- Dose Measurement Range: 10 mrem to 25 rem (100 μSv to 250 mSv).

• Radiation exposure due to x, gamma, and beta radiation is measured with optically stimulated luminescence technology. Dosimeters can be assessed for static versus dynamic radiation exposures.

• Operating and storage temperature range for dosimeters: -10 degrees Celsius (14 degrees Fahrenheit) to 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit).

Other Information:

• Badges will not be read unless there is a reportable radiological emergency where TLD’s are issued and worn.

• Supplier must be able to provide the badges and the AMP+Access on-line management themselves. No 3rd parties or sub-contractors.

• Supplier must provide paperless Radiation Dosimetry Reports when required.

• Supplier must have NVLAP (Code: 100555-0) accreditation.
