REPLACE CHILLER

FCC HAZELTON - PROJECT 1B1Q

CONTRACTOR: djonescookin@verizon.net

1. Is there a sign-in sheet from the pre bid site visit, If so, Can that be posted with the solicitation on Fed Biz Ops?

Clarification: No one requested to attend the scheduled pre-bid site visit, therefore, there is not a sign in sheet to post to FBO.

2. Are there as-built drawings available for the existing mechanical room where the new chiller is to be installed? If so, Can that be posted with the solicitation on Fed Biz Ops?

Clarification: As built drawings, if necessary, may be requested and made available later during construction phase. The corrected solicitation drawings should be enough for bid purposes.

3. The drawing that is posted on the solicitation is very difficult to read, can a more enhanced version be published on the solicitation?

CHANGE: Disregard original posted drawing. New drawing with readable line weights is included now. “Clrfd dwg Q_3” is enclosed.

4. Per the summary of workplace performance, Item E Question: If personnel are to bring lunch and not permitted to leave and return for lunch, in regards to materials can a worker leave the premises to pick up materials and return back to the work area within the same work shift?

Clarification: Any contractor movement in and out of the institution must be coordinated with the COR, following proper security procedures.

5. Is the Existing Chiller that is to be removed a YORK Chiller Model# 8-CH-1-HAZ?

CHANGE: No; that model # was a mistake. The actual model # is YKHBGDH7- CVE (Serial # SBLM-643520).

6. Is there any refrigerant in the Existing Chiller to be removed? If so, what type and how much refrigerant is in the Chiller?

Clarification: No; there is no refrigerant left. It was removed.

7. Is there a full scale site map of the FCC Hazelton Campus available? If so, Can that be posted with the solicitation on Fed Biz Ops?

CHANGE: Disregard wrongly scaled plan in original posted drawing. A better scaled site plan is enclosed. (“site plan Q_7”)

8. Is it the intent to have the new chiller tie into the existing Siemens BAS (Building Automation System)? If so, what points are to be controlled and monitored?

CHANGE: SOW posted was no explicit enough, as it did not list number of control points, but only listed communication and PIC requirement.

Specifically, refer to enclosure of existing graphics control diagrams which show points required for the BMS interface.

9. Is there any submittal data available for the existing chiller? If so, Can that be posted with the solicitation on Fed Biz Ops?

Clarification: No; data is not available now (and thought not to be required for bidding purposes when subject model & serial # of the chiller are given).

Should there the need arise during construction, the contractor may request to review the existing O&M manuals and other documents at the site.

10. Are EMT conduits acceptable in the chiller plant for power and control wiring.

CHANGE: Yes; EMT and fittings must comply with ANSI C80.3 & the following five (5) requirements:

1. Minimum conduit size shall be ¾ inch

2. All conductors shall be installed in conduit

3. Exposed conduits are required to be installed flat against the wall or other vertical surface, secured with straps and non-removable security fasteners

4. Rigid metal conduit is required, whether exposed or concealed, at all floor and security wall penetrations

5. For electrical metallic tubing, compression fittings and mechanical junction boxes are required. Fittings: use steel hexagonal compression type with insulated throat bushings. Set screw, die cast, and indented type fittings are not permitted. Utilize thermoplastic bushings and heavy duty steel lockouts as well.

AN AMENDMENT WILL BE ISSUED TO INCORPORATE THE ABOVE

CHANGES.
