Questions and Answers

Cutter Boat – Aids to Navigation – Medium and Large Question 1: Regarding the exhaust emissions compliance, the solicitation states that the engines need to meet MARPOL (73/78) Annex VI, which is IMO. The second statement refers to 40 CFR 90 which is for a gasoline engine and the spec is calling for diesel.

Below is actual verbiage from the solicitation:

“The manufacturer shall provide certification that the engine complies with all exhaust emissions regulations of MARPOL (73/78) Annex VI (www.imo.org <http://www.imo.org/> ). The manufacturer shall certify that the engine complies with the exhaust emissions regulations of 40 CFR 90 (Clean Air Act marine spark ignition emissions) and all state regulations. A national security exemption will not be authorized for these engines.”

Does the USCG mean 40 CFR 94 which applies to the diesel engine and EPA Tier 2 commercial and does the engine have to meet either IMO or EPA Tier 2 commercial or both?
