CLARIFICATIONS

The following clarifies items in the solicitation or provide information based on additional questions/comments received from vendors for this solicitation:

1. When was the building constructed? The original building was constructed in the 1930's. The proposed area for the new elevator is within an addition to the building which was built in the 1960's.

2. Are there any existing “as-built” or record drawings available? If so, are they in electronic format? Plans as well as sections? There are electronic (CAD) files of the floor plans. There are also hard copies of the "as-built" drawings, which include sections, details, etc. Those documents will be provided to the contractor who is awarded this contract. Amendment 001 also included some pertinent information regarding the existing conditions in the attachment that included the feasibility study.

3. Where is the electrical distribution located? The building's main switchgear room is located in the basement in a room adjacent to the proposed location of the new elevator machine room (room B009).

4. What is the make of existing building automation system? The existing BAS is a Johnson Controls Companion System with Infographics interface (software).

5. Does the building have any other elevators? If so, do they have a common monitoring system? If so, should the new and the existing be on the same system? Yes, there are two existing hydraulic elevators. No, there is no existing common monitoring system. However, there is potential that they could be linked in the future, so we would like to have the new elevator capable of connecting to a common system.

6. What type of roof does the building have (b.u.r., single ply, shingles, metal)? Roof is a Firestone single ply rubber membrane roof.

7. Will the elevator be hooked to an existing emergency generator system? No.

8. The maximum number of days possible for the design and review process adds up to 84 calendar days. (Granted, we don’t believe it will take that long, but that is the maximum time that is listed.) That doesn’t leave much time for construction. How firm is the 120 day time frame? For clarification, the 120 days is for the on-site construction only. It will begin once the notice to proceed for on-site construction has been issued, which will be after the design phase is completed and approved.

9. Will the new elevator need to be registered/inspected by the state? No, the State of Michigan does not have jurisdiction within Federal Facilities. However, the project must be in compliance with the ASME A17.1 national standards. An acceptance inspection must be performed in compliance with the A17.1 requirements by a certified QEI inspector.
