MATSSC Security Project Pre-Bid Q&A As of Amendmend 003, 9/22/2016 Drawing 3/A-107 references a section detail: 8/A-503, however there no drawing #8 on that page. Could it be clarified where we might find this detail section?

Answer: The reference to detail 8/A-503 should have been removed from 3/A-107. The detail was removed from the original set as it is a detail for the waterproofing work at the auditorium that was removed from the project scope in our last revisions.

Do the architects have a specific product in mind for the roughly 12” terrazzo precast base under the artwork to avoid a 1/16-1/8” horizontal gap?

Answer: The architect needs additional explanation regarding the 1/16”-1/8” gap referred to. They don’t understand.

Can the location of the main supply of the current sprinkler system be confirmed?

Answer The first floor isolation valves isolate the east half and the west half respectively and are in the 1st floor SW and SE shaftways.

Can the GSA issue the existing sprinkler drawings?

Answer: We do not have a complete set of sprinkler drawings, as these are usually field drawn. If the question is more specific, I may be able to help.

Several of the plans have a scale shown as 1/1” + 1’-0”, should this be 1/16” = 1 FT?

Answer: The scale question appears to be a typo, however without knowing which sheet, I can’t answer if it should be 1/16”=1 FT or another scale.

Reference to Dwg. EL-102, note 1, where is panel HS- L located?

Answer: ED103 – ELECT. BASEMENT PLAN POST #6 DEMOLITION – the scale should read 1/8” = 1’-0” not 1/16” = 1’-0” On drawing EL-102, Panel HS-L is miss noted, it should be panel H-SL and this can be found on 3/EL104 and 3/EP103.

On Drawing QY 707 24

On the door chart, the column Labeled “Function Code” has (see note 2). Doors 2NW-12.1 and 2SW-4.1 also list (see note 2). Should this note be omitted from the top of the column? The note causes conflict when applied to all doors.

Answer: After reviewing the Drawing QY 707 24, it is apparent that “See Note 2” should be removed from the top of the column under where it is labeled “Function Code”.

Page 260533-9 item 3.1 B 4 permits ENT (plastic ) and PVC schedule 40 conduit in the ceilings, Is this permissible?

“Concealed in ceilings and interior walls and partitions: EMT ENT or RNC, Type EPC-40-PVC”

Answer: See attached marked up drawing.

On drawing AP.1.01 there is no notation about the low protective metal rail along the floor in front of the mural. If this protective assembly is to be constructed as drawn, this railing must be removed. Is it the intention to have this railing removed or the assembly build around it? If it is to be removed, is that in the Art Protection Scope of Work?

Answer: The existing protective metal railing would not be required during the phase 1 artwork protection as the artwork would be protected via the plywood wall as drawn. We are not specifying if the existing railing needs to be removed or built around. The offeror should determine this as part of their means and methods. Any work performed that close to the artwork shall be closely supervised by the fine arts professional if not directly performed by this person.

During Phase 1, the Fine Arts Conservator is required to monitor the artwork the entire time the repairs to the floor and ceiling take place. Is there an estimate for how long this work will require?

Answer: The time to complete the work that requires the Phase 1 protection of the artwork will depend on the offerors means and methods for completing the project therefore we can not provide an estimated duration for this need.

Would it be possible to obtain the name and contact information for the Contractor that maintains or installed the sprinkler system referenced in the Unit Prices?

Answer: The SSA does not employ a lawn sprinkler contractor they just have the building maintenance contractor operate and maintain it. The contractor should seek out a lawn sprinkler contractor for any repairs required to this system as a result of this project.

Terrazzo Work:

How long can the corridors be blocked to pedestrian traffic during the placing of terrazzo? Each section of the terrazzo work will require at least 5 continuous days of NO Traffic for prep, pouring and polishing the terrazzo.

Will we be able to perform the epoxy terrazzo work during regular working hours? Even working at night, we will still need to block pedestrian traffic the following day.

Are there alternate ways for the employees to access their offices, cafeteria the auditorium, etc.?

Answer: Drawing G.0.05 indicates in regard to the terrazzo floor, “Stage Pours to allow passage at all times”. The contractor will be responsible to phase the work so that the building occupants can get around the building with the minimal impact. The contractor will need to submit a plan for review and approval that will address building tenant access. Terrazzo flooring work should be performed during building unoccupied working hours.
