About this file
This is an Insurance Requirements document for the City of Meriden, Connecticut, establishing mandatory coverage standards for contractors and vendors engaged in municipal contracts. The document specifies comprehensive insurance requirements that must be maintained throughout the contract period, with the City of Meriden named as an Additional Insured on a primary and non-contributory basis for all policies except Workers' Compensation. All policies must include a Waiver of Subrogation and be written with carriers approved in Connecticut and rated at minimum "A-"VIII by AM Best's. Original Certificates of Insurance must be submitted prior to contract issuance, with replacement or renewal certificates provided at least 30 days before policy expiration.
The minimum coverage requirements include General Liability of $1,000,000 to $2,000,000 depending on coverage type, Auto Liability of $1,000,000, and Umbrella/Excess Liability coverage with specified per-occurrence and aggregate limits. Workers' Compensation coverage must meet Connecticut statutory limits with Employers' Liability limits of $1,000,000 per accident, per employee disease, and policy limit. Claims-made policies require continuous renewal for a minimum of two years following contract completion, with retroactive date changes requiring an endorsement extending the reporting period for the duration of coverage. Contractors must provide the City of Meriden with 30 days' written notice of any policy cancellations, limit reductions, or coverage alterations.
