About this file
This document outlines requirements for a flooring replacement project at a U.S. Air Force gymnasium. The salient characteristics sheet specifies that the project involves installing a single-piece, seamless rubber gym floor mat measuring 34' x 19' 4" with a black color and imprinted with the 121st Fighter Squadron logo in the center. The flooring must be at least 18mm thick to withstand weights being dropped from five feet without damage. It should not be comprised of tiles to minimize separation. The related federal contract opportunity is solicitation number FA286023Q4029 for 121 FS/OHWS Gym Flooring through the Department of the Air Force Headquarters District Washington. Vendors should quote delivery, installation, and provide a warranty on the installed flooring to ensure safety and longevity for physical training as part of the USAF's Optimizing the Human Weapon System program.

Essential Characteristics = The floor mat must be an appropriate thickness to permit dropping weights from approximately five feet without damaging the floor or requiring a raised platform to minimize tripping hazards in the gym. The flooring must be one piece versus being comprised of multiple tiles to minimize separation and ensure long-term longevity. The quote must include costs for delivery and installation. Additionally, the selected contractor must provide a warranty on the installed flooring to ensure longevity, safety and thoughtful usage of funds.
Functions to be performed = The new flooring will support and improve pilots’ physical training and conditioning as part of the USAF’s Optimizing the Human Weapon System (OHWS) program. The flooring will enable safe, rapid movements for pilots during conditioning and increase the useable space in the gym for flexibility, recovery and preventative work. Prior to installation, the room will be prepared by members of the 121 FS. This will involve removing gym equipment, but installation will be performed by the company ultimately selected for the installation.
