NOTICE TO PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS

NSN: 1730-01-250-9737

Part Number: 17G230005-1

Noun: Cradle, Aircraft Engine-F117-PW-100

In preparing a bid for this item, every prospective bidder is cautioned to consider the following information and to carefully review the item technical data package including the 17G236001 ATP before/while preparing and submitting their bid. Attention is called to CDRL items A001, A002 & A003 as well.

Every cradle produced must pass the Acceptance Test Requirements defined in the 17G236001 ATP. Item acceptance structural testing requirements (for the First Article and all production units) effectively limit the number of prospective viable sources more than do the item manufacture requirements. The ATP for this item requires more experience and capability in supporting structural testing than is commonly found in small businesses. The ATP for this item features the most complex structural testing requirements of any C-17 peculiar support equipment item. The test loads involved are greater than for any other C-17 peculiar support equipment item. For this item, prospective contractors under estimate the challenges involved in developing an approvable test plan, viable test tooling, and conducting the ATP testing at their peril. The ability to successfully conduct the ATP testing is critical to performance on any awarded contract for this item and to related CPARs.

The engine cradle is used with existing engine trailers (present configurations are TT90-F-507 and PT90-F-507/-509/-511) featuring, a pair of parallel I-beam rails, size S6 x 17.25, spaced on 90" centers. The engine cradle mates with the engine ground handling mounts of the F117-PW- 100 engine. Structurally, the cradle is designed to support the engine within the maximum allowable engine transportation load envelope. The cradle also mates with trailer TT90-F-507 shipping locks P/N’s 9608-1 & 9608-2.

The engine cradle is a build-to-print item defined by and built to a technical data package (17G230005 drawing, supporting drawings, notes lists, parts lists, media and specifications) to which the Government has the requisite rights for competitive acquisition. It is the sole accepted item in this application, designed and manufactured to meet the weapon system requirements in the absence of commercial or other purpose built equipment in the Government inventory that met/meets said requirements.
