Solicitation #FA671219BA001

Project JLSS 16-0014 Renovate Facility for AFE, B-411

Questions with Answers/Clarifications:

1. There are a few places on the furniture/equipment list that it seems a line has been hidden IE B408 Embroidery Machine, 12th line down, it looks like there is another list that is hidden. Are there any additional items that may be on the list? (Section 01 01 00 Addendum 5)

Response: An amendment to correct the addendum to the solicitation to include the updated list in the project specification will be issued

2. There is a mixture of floor finishes on the rotary bins. The flooring will have to be removed as part of the move. Is it acceptable to install the same finish on all bases? (Section 01 01 00 Addendum 5)

Response: An amendment to correct the addendum to the solicitation to no longer remove/install rolling storage shelves in this project will be issued

3. Please provide the manufacturer for the rotary bins that are going to be moved. (Section 01 01 00 Addendum 5)

Response: An amendment to correct the addendum to the solicitation to no longer remove/install rolling storage shelves in this project will be issued.

4. Please verify that the government will move all loose items and the bins will be emptied prior to moving. (Section 01 01 00 Addendum 5)

Response: The bins will be emptied by the government. Please be more specific about what constitutes “loose items.” The rolling storage shelf movement will no longer be included as part of this project; see questions 3 and 4 above.

5. Is there any record of what product is currently applied to the floor? (Sheet A-7) Response: There is no record of the installed floor product. All indications are that it is the original floor from 1983.

6. Will the contractor be required to install new epoxy coating, where demolition occurs for post pads, in areas that are to receive LVY? (Sheet A-7)

Response: Repair floor as necessary so that LVT can be installed properly. See drawing A-3 demo note 9 and Specification Section 09 65 13 paragraph 3.02B.

7. There are currently some areas where the floor is damaged. Is there a square footage of floor to be patched and linear feet of stripping to be removed in the high bay area? (Sheet A-7) Response: There is about 270 linear feet of striping that needs to be removed, and an estimated 20 sq ft of patching required in the high bay area. With the building occupied at this time, it would be impossible to get a thorough look at the entire floor to completely answer this question. If we ask the occupants to move items to get a complete look, we risk further damaging it, so we cannot answer this question accurately at this time. Further, the floor is quite dirty right now. Cleaning may reveal additional damage that may not be readily visible now.

8. Would it be acceptable to include an add alternate to prep and recoat the existing surface? This would include mechanically prepping the floor, applying a primer and applying a new top coat. (Sheet A-7) Response: No. Please quote the project to the current bid package.

9. Will the standard bronze finish be acceptable for the aluminum finish on the windows? (Section 08 51 13 Page 6) Response: Yes; windows shall be operable, bronze anodized aluminum with bronze-tint glazing. Please ensure it closely matches newer facilities in the vicinity of Building 411.
