Question 1: What are the dimensions of the building to be placed on the concrete pad and what are the dimensions of the concrete pad?
Answer: The gatehouse is 4 ft. X 10 ft. and has a 3 ft. overhang around the entire building. The concrete pad will be 10 ft. X 16 ft. level with the current grade.
Question 2: What is the thickness of the concrete have to be and does it require reinforcement?
Answer: The concrete pad will be a min of 4 inches thick with weld-wire reinforcement
Question 3: Can pre-cast pad be used for guard shack?
Answer: The Government will accept either cast-in-place concrete or pre-cast concrete providing either are installed at the same elevation as the surrounding ground area and the dimension meet those called out in Question 1 (above).
Question 4: Where is the “gatehouse” to be located/where does the pad need to go?
Answer: The gatehouse will be in the grass area adjacent to its current location. It must have 5 feet from the PIV to the overhang of the gatehouse. The gatehouse overhang will be 4 feet from the roadway.
Question 5: How will the temporary barrier activation switches/wires enter the gatehouse?
Answer: The Contractor will need to drill approximately a 2” hole in the side of the gatehouse and supply a weatherproof/rodent-proof/pest-proof rubber boot where the two barrier lines will penetrate the gatehouse. The lines and switch are on site and the size should be confirmed before drilling.
Question 6: What are the estimated locations of utility’s in the area from the south of the gym, along both sides of the road to the project location?
Answer: The location of buried utilities will be marked out after an award has been made, it is up to the contractor to request a dig permit through the 914th CE office, verify locations and hand-dig within 3 feet when approaching them.
We are however able to provide you with a reference map that will provide you with the estimated locations and what you will potentially encounter when working in this area; see attached utility map (it is to be used for reference only, you will have to verify all locations).
