Site Visit Questions & Responses – SET #2

Construct Oxygen Storage, Bldg 818, Minneapolis ARS, MN
SET #2 – 21 May 2015
1. QUESTION: On sheet ES102 there is the new fiber optic cord to be run from building 761 to 818.
There is no demolition plan for this area. Is the Government’s intention for this 4" conduit to be bored from existing tunnel to existing manhole 11? Or will a strip of asphalt need to be removed / replaced to install duct bank 24" deep? please advise on if the intention is to bore this conduit or excavate a trench and fill back with aggregate base and asphalt?
RESPONSE: The method of installation is up to the contractor to decide. If the conduit is installed using a trench then removing asphalt and installing new asphalt, then should be included in the bid amount.
2. QUESTION: What types of liquid is being stored in the new building?
RESPONSE: They will have CO2, Nitrogen and liquid oxygen stored in the building.
3. QUESTION: Can you clarify the following discrepancy between the plans and specifications?
What is the desired panel width and seam height?
SECTION 13 34 19 Page 20 2.4.1 Steel Sheet paragraph c Roof Panel States:
Profile to be a 2-1/2 inch high standing seam, 12 inch coverage, with mechanical crimping or snap-together seams with concealed clips and fasteners.
Drawings A-102 A3 Roof plan, note A13 states:
2'-0" WIDE STANDING SEAM ROOF PANELS WITH 2" HIGH RIBS AND THERMAL BREAK CLIPS.
The drawing indicates a 2’ roof panel as the note indicates
Drawings A-102 A3 Roof plan, note A17 states:
ROOF CANOPY WITH STANDING SEAM ROOF PANELS TO MATCH THE MAIN ROOF
The drawing however indicates a 12” panel
RESPONSE: 2'-0" WIDE STANDING SEAM ROOF PANELS WITH 2" HIGH RIBS AND THERMAL
BREAK CLIPS. (Canopy to match main roof)
