Airplane Marshalling Simulator – Questions and Answers
1. Is there Wi-Fi connection?
a. If so, would you like trainee data saved? (e.g., time to completion, steps completed successfully, data saved about specific trainees)
b. If you want data saved would you like it on your server or on ours?
No Wi-Fi will be used and data will not require saving.
2. Would you like a standalone report to be generated at the end of the experience? This would show how many steps were correctly completed but the data would not save.
Yes
3. Would you like a tutorial created in the VR experience so that students know how to use the application and hardware?
Preferably, we would like to have different “modes”.
One for Instructor that would act as the tutorial going through all hand signals.
The second mode would be a practice to allow the students to use the different signals (doesn’t have to be all signals). The final mode will be used as a “test”.
This mode should be a different scenario than the practice.
4. Would you like an option for multiple scenes to be shown?( e.g. Different locations, weather, and time of day.)
Yes, if cost effective.
5. Do you have specific models for the aircrafts and geography & topography? Do we need to create these models?
Models will need to be created by manufacturer.
6. What audio would you like incorporated into the experience? For example jet sounds.
Engine sounds to give students feedback of noise.
7. Would you like the experience to be single or multiuser?
Each student will perform singularly.
8. Would you like multiple difficulty levels? (i.e. Easy shows them how to do the 16 steps, medium gives them hints if they are doing signals incorrectly, and hard gives no cues.)
Yes, if cost effective and can be integrated with the different modes recited in question 2. (we would like to have different “modes”. One for Instructor that would act as the tutorial going through all hand signals. The second mode would be a practice to allow the students to use the different signals (doesn’t have to be all signals). The final mode will be used as a “test”. This mode should be a different scenario than the practice.)
9. Would you like multiple languages to be incorporated into the experience?
No
10. Do you have a desired time frame for the completion of this project?
No
11. Is there a desired warranty period?
Standard commercial warranty, but additional warranty could be offered.
12. Is the warranty for the software we are developing or the software and hardware?
Both.
13. Can you define “update” in regard to the warranty plan?
Software updates as needed to respond to OS or other needed changes.
14. What hours are desired for support?
Standard business hours
15. Is traveling required to Sheppard for installing the hardware/software & testing?
Not required if software is self-contained (e.g. plug and play).
16. We (the vendors) are of course including the 10 necessary Xboxs with Kinect capabilities and software loaded, but I wanted to ask if this solicitation also needed 10 TVs/monitors to connect to the Xbox's as well to complete the "student workstation"?
No. Xbox’s will be connected to classroom TVs already in place.
17. Please provide clarification of the following statements from the
• SOO: (underlined portion) The contractor shall provide a turnkey solution incorporating all hardware, software, and support staff necessary to develop, setup, update, maintain, and troubleshoot this system.
Support staff necessary – Software developers required to create, update (if required), maintain (if required) and troubleshoot in the event the software/hardware malfunctions/failures.
• Solicitation: (underlined portion) 1 Year Warranty / Maintenance Plan
Maintenance Plan – If software/hardware requires maintenance actions. e.g. software error, hard drive/motherboard malfunction/failure, Kinect malfunction/failure.
1-Do these references mean that
• The contractor is supposed to provide permanent onsite support personnel to update, maintain, and troubleshoot the system?
Over the phone/company’s repair facility
• Or, that you are looking for off-site support -- and if so what kind? -- telephone support only;
or are you expecting the contractor to have personnel ready to be sent to Sheppard to maintain/ trouble shoot/replace hardware?
Over the phone/company’s repair facility
Note: Typically: this type COTS (software and hardware-based) system would be delivered with following. Is this what is implied in No-1 above?
• OEM COTS Hardware warranties (and any HW operating system software)--serviced through the OEM HW supplier; and
• Software warrantied by the software contractor (SDS in this case) against bugs. Any post delivery Bugs would be corrected and either installed by SDS personnel.
o Plus, SDS would provide on-call telephone support to unit personnel regarding any software operating issues, or problem-solving (I.e. Troubleshooting) o And, SDS would deliver backup software discs for loading by unit personnel (with Tel assistance from SDS as needed) should there arise a need to reload any software
Yes, we concur with the latter as more agreeable (highlighted in green font). However, vendor will be responsible for coordination and troubleshooting with OEM HW vendor.
2- What does the reference to "update" mean? Is the government expecting to require (currently unknown) updates to the system in the first year?
None are expected. Only intended to refer to OS updates that would impact software.
File details come from the government source that posted it.
