1. Please verify that the request to replace the existing hardware with hardwired strikes and readers is for the entirety of the 658 doors? Or, would you like the dorm rooms to have updated wireless locking hardware and hardwired strikes to stairways and passageways? This can create an impact on the footprint of the access control system. By utilizing the wireless technology for the dorm rooms, you lessen the overall footprint in your telecom closets.

Government Response: The contractor shall provide hardwired strikes for the entirety of the 658 doors.

No wireless technology is requested.

2. Are the ceilings hard or are they drop tile?

Government Response: The ceilings are drop tile.

Batteries shall not be used to maintain the locking mechanisms as part of everyday use. The contractor shall provide a stand-alone computer to operate as an offline control system and to program smart cards. In addition, the control system will have a backup power in case of power failure. Access to the computer shall be by a programmed smart card.

The equipment required shall be sufficient for the installation and control of the 658 doors in the building.” Can you please answer the following questions:

a) Is there an existing power supply and wire currently in place?

Can you provide the Salient Characteristics required for the Physical Access Control System (PACS), which the PACS would be part of.

Government Response: System should be standalone, i.e. not connected to ISP or Base Network. PACS hardware is in place. Strike will need to be installed and reader will communicate with it in order for the existing PACS hardware to function.

29. Salient Characteristics: Must integrate/function with electric door strike. Again an Electric Strike and Card Reader need a Physical Access Control System (PACS) Hardware and software to control access.

Please define how a Card Reader will integrate and function with a Door strike absent a Physical Access Control System (PACS).

Government Response: Existing PACS will be incorporated, the standalone feature was in reference to PACS separate of the Base Network and ISP.

30. Salient Characteristics: Voltage max: 24VDC. Please confirm the voltage as the R10 operates at 5-16

VDC.
