Access Control System Questions

1. Is your intent to allow personnel to utilize their US Government issued credential (CAC card) as the credential accepted by the system to unlock a door? If YES, are you required to meet the Fed Reg for FICAM/FIPS-201/FIPS-201 Compliance? If YES, please identify entrance(s) required to meet this requirement. Will these facilities need to upgraded to this compliance within the next few years?

Yes, we intend to use the CAC card with the FICAM/FIPS-201 Compliance, all entrances requiring new readers on 1st floor (4 readers) 2nd floor (12 readers) 3rd floor (12 readers) 4th (12 readers) that were identified on the site visit will need to meet this requirement.

2. Please confirm the existing AMAG Symmetry Professional system is the HSE (Homeland Security Edition) version Existing system is HSE approved.

3. 1st Floor on each building is there an M2150 Data Base Controller already installed? If yes, how many doors are being controlled?

Yes, there are currently 16 doors being controlled.

4. Are CAC Cards required as part of the RFQ and what model of cards used?

CAC cards are not required as part of the RFQ, all users of the facilities are provided with their own CAC cards.

5. Are any additional workstation clients needed and if yes, how many?

No additional workstations are needed.

6. Will any of the readers need to authenticate to the Federal Bridge?

Yes, all readers will need to authenticate to the Federal Bridge.

7. Is the current SSA with AMAG up to date?

Yes, the current SSA is up to date with AMAG

8. The reader 1 EA. Symmetry 9 Reader is not a valid part # or description and how it is to be used? Because there no Symmetry 9 Reader in the AMAG Reader section. Is your intent to upgrade to Symmetry version 9? If so, please verify that the current server operating system is compatible with Version 9?

The Symmetry 8 reader is the one to be used for this project. The current system is compatible with this reader.

9. Are the current HID readers on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors functional? If the HID Readers are to be re-used please furnish the full part # so we can confirm they can be used with the CAC card credentials? This goes toward the statement made to re-use as much as possible of existing devices which helps keeps the costs lower.

All HID readers will be replaced with the Symmetry readers stated in the SOW.

10. What will the Symmetry 8 Input/4 Output be connected to? Will 1 unit be needed for each floor?

1 unit will be needed for each floor, it will connect to any relays

11. The Identicard system that was shut-down was fully functional with the exception of the control panels…yes or no?

No, the system was partially functional and too outdated to repair to have fully functional.

12. Do you want to re-use the Altronix Power Supplies on each floor Yes, as long as the power supplies are in good working order.

13. Can the government provide a copy of building drawings or a set of the current As Built drawings of the current access control system?

We can provide floorplan drawings, diagram drawings of the panels, and enlarged drawings of the electrical room where the panels are located. This is the most we have regarding the access control system.

14. The scope of this project is to install a complete access control system through installing equipment to achieve a complete and operating access control security system compatible with the current infrastructure. What is meant by compatible with the current infrastructure?

Overall living conditions of the facility as well as being compatible with the current Symmetry access control system.

15. Supply and replace the current Identicard panels with Symmetry panels. Supply and replace the current card readers with Symmetry readers. How many Identicard panels are there and how many card readers are wired to each panel?

There 9 Identicard panels on each floor, 4 card readers are wired to each panel on floors 2, 3, and 4. 1st floor already has Symmetry panels.

16. Ensure sounders remain on, on all emergency exits. How many emergency exits are there in the three buildings?

There are 16 emergency exits per building.

17. Ensure sounders remain on, on all emergency exits. Are there currently sounders installed or will the contractor need to purchase sounders?

Sounders are already installed, no need for contractor to purchase sounders

18. Repair all door hardware as needed. Repair all existing cabling as needed. Is it the intent of the government to reuse all existing wire and door hardware excluding card readers?

Yes, only door hardware and existing wiring not in good working order will be replaced. All card readers will be replaced with the Symmetry card readers stated in the SOW.

19. Repair all door hardware as needed. What is the make, model, and number of repairs that will need to be made to the door hardware?

We currently don’t have the make and model of the doors, at the moment no repairs are needed that we know of. If any door hardware is found to need replacing, we would like to do so on an as needed basis.

21. Are Scaled Drawings available?

Yes

22. Are Ceilings Suspended? Or Hard Lid?

Suspended Ceilings

23. Are there existing Cable Trays for wiring above ceilings?

Existing cable trays should be in place from previous system

24. Can Existing Wiring be utilized?

Existing Wiring will be need to utilized

25. Is a “UPS” required? If so, What Time/Power Duration is required?

Waiting for feedback

26. Are “Or Equal” Equipment substitutions allowed?

Substitutions will not be allowed, it is important that the equipment matches the existing system on the 1st floor.

27. Is “Plenum Wire” acceptable?

Plenum Wire is acceptable for any new wiring that may be needed, existing wiring will remain the same.

28. Is “After Hours Access” for said work, available to contractor at no add’l cost to the Gov’t?

Afterhours access is not available, an escort is only available during regular hours.
