About this file

This document is a Sources Sought announcement for the U.S. Air Force to determine market interest in providing custom-made airfield lighting signs that meet the attached salient characteristics. The government is seeking vendors who can provide replacement signs that are an exact match to the existing assets to ensure compatibility and safety of the airfield lighting system. The key requirements include signs that can operate in extreme temperatures and weather conditions, have long-lasting LED light sources, and use a rugged lightning protection system. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 335132 - Commercial, Industrial, and Institutional Electric Lighting Fixture Manufacturing. Interested parties are invited to submit a capabilities package by February 14, 2024, providing details on their company, qualifications, past performance, and what distinguishes their capabilities. This is a sources sought only and does not constitute a procurement commitment by the government.

Sign Specs Temperature: -40 °F to +131 °F (-40 °C to +55 °C)

Humidity: 0 to 100%

Wind: Mode 2 signs required (signs withstand wind velocities up to 200 mph)

Unique LED Light Bar design maximizes energy efficiency

• Available Battery Tester provides for quick and easy testing of individual LED Light Bars

• Electrical design uses a minimal number of components which maximizes sign MTBF and greatly simplifies troubleshooting efforts.

• Virtually eliminates runway and taxiway shutdowns due to long-lasting LED light source

• Custom made for Direct replacement of existing sign

• Creates a highly uniform distribution of light, eliminating hot spots and shadows

• Operates on floresonant or thyristor CCRs that are designed in compliance with FAA or IEC requirements

• Operates on all steps of a 3-step or 5-step CCR and on a 5.5 A CCR.

• Rugged lightning protection that complies with ANSI/IEEE C62.41-1991 Location Category C2 given in FAA Eng. Brief 67.

Category C2 is defined as a 1.2/50μS – 8/20 μS combination wave, with a peak voltage of 10,000 Volts and a peak current of 5,000

· 3 hours of down time is expected to occur for parts replacement

· An interface being placed within the system to allow other than ADB compatible parts is not acceptable. This is due to mission risk. Changing configuration of existing equipment may cause format, brightness changes, and changes to mounting configuration.
