About this file

This is a telecommunications equipment specification document for the Boston Police Department (BPD) related to the procurement of two new mid-size SUVs (Ford Bronco Sport Big Bend or approved equal). The advertisement date is October 12, 2026, with a bid opening date of October 28, 2026. The specification details comprehensive telecommunications and warning equipment installation requirements for police vehicles, including power systems, control head installations, lighting systems, siren equipment, and radio/antenna configurations. The BPD requires all equipment to be installed to specific standards with detailed wiring diagrams, fuse block configurations, and component specifications that must be finalized with BPD Telecom prior to installation.

The specification mandates the use of specific manufacturers and models for critical components, including Federal Signal Pathfinder PF200S17 siren system, Federal Signal lighting packages, Kenwood mobile radio remount systems, and Panorama Antennas BPD-5385 antenna systems. All wiring must use stranded American Wire Gauge specifications with particular attention to power distribution through 100-amp weather-proof circuit breakers, constant power and switched power fuse blocks, and dedicated ground systems. The document requires contractors to provide all hardware, connectors, and parts necessary for complete installation, with all warning, computer, and radio equipment properly powered and grounded according to BPD standards. Bidders must coordinate equipment locations and installation procedures directly with BPD Telecom prior to commencing work.
