About this file
This is a technical specifications document for telecommunications equipment installation on a New Pursuit Interceptor Utility AWD Hybrid marked vehicle for the Boston Police Department, with an advertisement date of September 28, 2026, and a bid opening date of October 14, 2026. The project, identified as EV00018011, requires comprehensive installation of warning, computer, and radio equipment systems on police patrol vehicles. The scope includes a complete power system design with dual main circuit breakers (100 AMP weather-proof main breaker and separate 40 AMP and 30 AMP auto-reset breakers for lightbar and siren), dual fuse blocks (constant power and switched/ignition power configurations), and proper grounding infrastructure to be installed in the trunk area. Additional equipment includes a LUND LOFT-FPIU-EC equipment cover, Gamber Johnson console with docking station for CF-33 laptop computer, Brother PJ-883 printer, Federal Signal Pathfinder PF200S17-BOS17 lightbar system with multi-color LED lights, Federal ES100 speakers, two Panorama antennas mounted on the roof, and a Sierra Wireless XR60 modem with dual Ethernet ports and WiFi capability powered by Verizon Wireless.
The specifications mandate strict installation standards including stranded American Wire Gauge wiring with no snap-lock or insulation-piercing connectors, NYLOCK nuts on all studs, and color-coded wiring (red for power, black for ground). All equipment must derive power from the specified power system with fuse blocks located on the truck loft and no inline fuse holders permitted. The contractor must provide a complete installation package with all hardware, connectors, and parts necessary, ensure all thumb screws remain accessible, maintain 2-3 feet of service slack on all console wiring, and deliver a spreadsheet to BPD Telecom containing vehicle number, radio ID, serial numbers, and MDT CPU information. Questions regarding the equipment power system should be directed to Radio@pd.boston.gov, and equipment locations must be finalized with BPD Telecom prior to installation, with the lightbar programming to be completed by Federal Signal representatives and not adjusted thereafter.
