1.1 Scope and Purpose :

This documents presents the general suggestions to reinforce and remove a compartment of the existing pedestal based on the information provided by the customer. In the absence of more detail and precise information from existing structure, Techcrane International LLC is only responsible for the upper pedestal structure (See Illustration 1) which is designed and manufactured by Techcrane International LLC. Techcrane takes and assumes no liability other than our provided pedestal.

The design validations , and structural integrity of the rest of the structure including all deck components , existing pedestal structure , existing stiffeners is the customer responsibly to meet the applicable standards requirements.

All welded connection shall be in accordance with the AWS D1.1 (latest edition ) .

The structural feasibility analysis of the existing structures will be required to be investigated by customer in order to support the loads from upper pedestal structure supplied by Techcrane.

1.2 Upper Pedestal Structure :

The upper pedestal structure refers as the pedestal and it's mounted structure which is designed and manufactured per structural requirement of API-2C latest edition. (See General Arrangement Drawing T80-62- 82 sent by techcrane on May /16 / 2013 Figure-1) .

Customer :Basic Marine Date:5/22/2013

SECTION 2 : ESTIMATED LOADS ON THE LOWER STRUCTURE

Estimated Moment and Axial Loading created from Upper Pedestal Structure:

In order to meet the API 2C requirements The overturning moment and axial thrust loads created by the crane shall not be less than the below :

Axial Thrust load: 165000 pound Moment load : 3661285 ft.lbs Moment load due to side load :14444402 ft.lbs

*These values are calculated based on the (2x Static load) The crane is considered mounted on the supported fixed structure in the static condition. The crane stability calculations is sent to the costumer on (April/01/2013).

The entire structure shall conform with the AISC (Specification for Structural Steel Buildings) when subjected to the loads described in above . Stability must be calculated by customer provided Naval Architect. Please call Techcrane for any additional crane data needed for Customer Stability.

Customer :Basic Marine Date:5/22/2013

SECTION 3 : LOWER AND UPPER PEDESTAL ARRANGEMENTS

These drawings are provided only as the general instruction and It is simplified in order to provide better views of the main components of the entire assembly . The complete detail of the existing deck structure is not considered in the general assembly drawing .( to check the details see APPENDIX-A which is provided by customer) .

APPENDIX C : FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS

This section indicates the FEA results based on the information provided by the customer.

Due to the lack of available loading history on the existing structure .A conservative estimation of the fatigue life should be considered by the customer to validate the reaming fatigue life of the structures based on the load creates by the new crane.

During these analysis it is assumed , there is no imposed cyclic load prior to the structure. The existence of the crack like discontinuities in the weldment is ignored . It requires a comprehensive inspection by the customer to confirm and validate the existing weld quality.
