STATEMENT OF WORK – dated 8/27/2013
STATEMENT OF WORK
FOR
RENEW AND REPLACE ASW PUMPS
CLIN 0001 ASW PUMPS - #1 and #2 RENEW WITH NEW MARAD PUMPS Statement of Work This item is to remove the existing pumps and install the new MARAD supplied pumps in their place. The scope of work includes rigging old pumps out and rigging new pumps and removal and replacement of interferences; Remove Electrical and Mechanical Connections and modify same to connect to the new pumps; Job will and Final job to operated and tested in presence of Chief Engineer and MARAD Surveyor.
Location of Existing pumps: Engine Room, starboard side, 12 ft flat, frame 120.
Location of New pumps: Deck below midships hatch. These will have to be rigged from this location to the lower engine room
Contractor Responsibilities and Protection and Preservation:
· Contractor is responsible for all deck protection and bulkhead and ship’s equipment protection when rigging or performing the modifications and repairs.
· Contractor and employees must comply with all aspects of the ship’s safety and security requirements as designated by the Captain and MARAD terms and conditions
· Contractor personnel should be easily identifiable with clothing and/or name tags for Ship’s security and crew and MARAD Surveyor to identify.
· Dock space is limited and is only to be used when delivering materials or equipment
· Chief Mate will provide overall information as to the general rules and regulations as they apply the vessel and visitor or contractors aboard
· Contractors should have job boxes or some method of securing their tools and equipment so that they can monitor their property and prevent any possible theft of same
· Contractors are responsible for Chemist for Gas Freeing and Fire Protection during the duration of the job. Fire Protection zones for the ship may have to be turned off during the time of the hot work and must be coordinated with the Ship’s Crew. Fire watch to be maintained for a minimum of 30 minutes after each hot work period
Removal of the Existing Pumps:
· Tag out and Lock out all Electrical and Mechanical components with dual tags and locks for the Contractor and the Ship’s designated person(s)
· Blank off all lines that will be opened during the renewal of the pumps to prevent any flooding. Chief Engineer to inspect and confirm adequate protection
· Refer to the New Pump installation for regards to the Rigging and Interference statements
· Existing pumps shall be removed from system, preserved, palletized and delivered to the MARAD warehouse in Alameda, CA.
Suction and Discharge Valve Repair and Renewal
· The two 8 inch Suction Butterfly Valves shall be rebuilt renewing all soft parts.
· The two 6 inch Discharge Stop Check Valves shall be rebuilt with new seats and discs or renewed. Current valves are Bronze 150 angle stop checks manufactured by Pima.
· For estimating purposes consider supplying new Butterfly valves and Stop Check valves versus removal and repair of same. Contractor should designate their preference with this quotation. If new valves are to be supplied rig and store the old valves to a place designated by the Chief Engineer
New Pump Installation
· Rig the new pumps from the midships stored location to the lower engine room. Ship’s cranes can be used but must be operated by ship’s personnel
· Rigging will require moving from the present storage area to the dock and then to the after deck to allow access to hatches and soft patches for access
· Contractors must be responsible for removal of all interferences and replacement of same at completion of the job
· New pump installation should be done so as to preserve as much as possible the existing Cu-Ni piping. If removal and new pipe installation will expedite the job and can be economically proven, Contractor may quote with that option.
· New pumps will require modification or replacement of the support base. Contractors should bid to renew the support base if they do not feel that they can reuse same to fit the foot print of the new pumps. Manufacturers specifications and instructions will be made available at the time of the ship walk or earlier if necessary. The new pumps can also be viewed aboard the vessel
· As a possible option, New pumps can be supported by plate “Saddles” bolted to pump suction and discharge flanges and bolted to existing 6” x 6” angle iron support structure which crosses fore and aft at pump flanges. Saddles can be fashioned in an inverted triangular shape so as to spread load of pump across more of support structure
· Target the new pumps discharge flanges to the existing 6 inch discharge elbows if at all possible . If new pump dimensions are not possible to align same, change the piping to fit up to the pump without putting same in any stress or misalignment
· Under all circumstances, the pump must be made up so that the connecting piping does not have to be forced into position. This line up must be proven to the Chief Engineer and MARAD surveyor before final welding or attachment.
· Pump suction piping shall require the fashioning of new 8” to 6” spool piece transitions. These transitions shall be constructed of 70 - 30 copper nickel. Existing flanges may be reused to fashion transitions.
ELECTRICAL
· Motors shall be oriented such that the distance between electrical service and motor junction boxes are minimized.
· Electrical Connections shall be to existing pump services.
· After flooding pump casings, motors shall be “bumped” in presence of COTR or Chief Engineer to prove proper rotation.
COATINGS
· All affected coatings shall be restored to original paint system requirements and shall match Ship’s current color schemes.
COMMISSIONING
· After clearing all tags out and lockout , Ship’s Force shall test each pump.
· Pumps and piping shall be inspected for leaks.
· Chillers and Ship’s Refrigeration Systems maybe run to demonstrate normal loads.
· Contractor shall secure the services of a reputable Vibration Analysis provider to perform a base line vibration survey of each pump.
DELIVERABLES
