STATEMENT OF WORK

Contractor is responsible for all labor, materials, transportation and rigging associated with the removal of the three (3) existing R114 AC Chillers and installation of the two (2) Carrier R134a AC Chillers.

Contractor to pump down capture all R114 refrigerant from the existing AC Chillers and store in bottles to be removed from ship. MARAD will receive a credit for the R114 Refrigerant. The details for this credit to MARAD are specified in other parts of this work item.

Contractor to remove the three (3) existing R114 AC Chillers from the ship and dispose of properly including all components except those that will be reused for the new AC Chillers. Contractor is required to give MARAD a scrap credit after all costs are considered for the removal and transport of the three (3) chillers from the ship to the scrap location.

Contractor to transport two (2) new Contractor-Supplied AC Chillers from their storage space or from the vendor to the ship to be installed in the Engine Room.

Contractor is responsible for hiring the Crane necessary to rig the new AC Chillers from the dock to the Engine Room. Crane will have to have the capacity and height capability to lift the new AC chillers from the dock over the Engine Room Supply Fan Plenum and down the Engine Room hatch to the Machine Shop level. The ship’s Engine Room Crane at the 04 Level After House does not have adequate capacity for this service.

Contractor is responsible for any damage to the new Chillers during the transportation or rigging of same into place. Contractor must get directions from the Manufacturer regarding what positions may not be used when rigging and what components may be removed to allow for ease of rigging same into place.

Rigging may require some interference removal to allow for ease of rigging between the Machine Shop level and the AC Chiller flat below the Machine Shop. Do NOTuse the suggested new hatch location as noted in the Herbert Engineering directions. Use the soft patch located above the AC Chillers for rigging the old Chillers out and the new Chillers in.

Use the “TS Golden Bear Replacement Guide R1” for a general Guideline for the removal and installation. As noted above, do not use the suggested “new hatch installation in front of the main engines”

Use the Dwg #130520001-0 New AC Chiller PLT FDN 12-18-13 drawing as a guide for materials and assembly for the foundation for the new Chiller.

Use the Dwg #320-6251872 Elementary Wiring Diagram and Dwg #320-6251872 Rev D, AC CHLD WTR SYS, Elem Wiring Diagram for the wiring connections and arrangements for the new Chillers Electrical.
