STATEMENT OF WORK
UPGRADE ELECTRIC REQUIREMENTS
FURUSETH HALL ROOMS 305, 306, 308
U.S. MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY
KINGS POINT, NEW YORK

BACKGROUND
The United States Merchant Martine Academy (USMMA) is an agency of the Maritime Administration (MARAD) managed by the United States Department of Transportation.
The USMMA is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Therefore, all work shall be consistent with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties (36 CFR part 68) http://www.nps.gov/tps/standards/four-treatments/treatment-guidelines.pdf.
All work shall meet or exceed the standards provided in the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation and guidelines for applying the standards published by the National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior 36 CFR 67.7 - Standards for rehabilitation.
SCOPE
The USMMA seeks a qualified and experienced contractor to provide labor, material, transportation, tools, equipment and supervision to perform an electric upgrade in rooms 305, 306 and 308 located in Furuseth Hall.
The Contractor shall assess the location for available electric feeds and bring power up to the third floor of the building in all three rooms.
The Contractor will install approximately 40 duplex receptacles on 20 circuits as well as individual lines and receptacles to accommodate a 208V 60 Amp circuit and a 110V 60 Amp circuit.
DELIVERABLES
1. The Contractor shall use available power sources from the basement of Furuseth Hall and provide electrical service to rooms 305, 306 and 308 located on the third floor of Furuseth Hall.
2. The Contractor shall install a 200 amp panel board on the third floor and required pull boxes to bring power up from the basement. The panel board will be a 42 circuit main breaker interior with copper bus, MH50 box, NC50S surface NEMA 1 front, PK27GTA ground kit, NQMB2Q main breaker adapter kit, and QBL32200 main breaker.
3. The Contractor shall install (1) 208 V, 60 Amp wall mounted and (1) 110V, 60 Amp wall mounted receptacle compatible with an IEC 60309 2P+E (6h) 60 A 2P3W plug, in designated locations.
4. The Contractor shall install (40) 20 Amp duplex receptacles, Leviton #5352 (Brown 20 A/125V), or equivalent in designated locations.
5. Receptacle boxes shall be RACO # 232 or equivalent. 4” square x 2 ½” deep with ½” and ¾” knockouts.
6. Receptacle box covers shall be Mulberry #11402 or equivalent, 1 gang duplex receptacle raised cover.
7. Feeder wires shall be #4/O AWG copper, 19 strands-THHN/THWN2. (3) Black and (1) White.
8. Feeder ground wire shall be #6 AWG copper, 19 strands-THHN/THWN2, Green.
9. The Contractor shall use 2 ½” EMT to run feeder wires from the basement.
10. Each 30 amp circuit shall be dedicated to (2) duplex receptacles.
11. Receptacle boxes and EMT are to be mounted on the surface of the walls. All straps shall be 1-hole stamped steel, heavy duty push or clix on type.
12. All fasteners and anchors shall be constructed of metal. No plastic anchors, Rawl plugs or drywall screws are to be used.
13. Electrical specifications are as follows;
1. Conductors:
a) All conductors shall be copper with THHN-THWN2 Insulation, rated at 600 volts minimum.
b) All wiring shall be a minimum size #12 AWG copper.
c) Any branch circuit conductor run in excess of 75 feet shall be a minimum size #10 AWG copper.
2. Wiring Methods:
a) The Contractor shall use appropriate sized EMT to run wiring to the receptacles.
3. Fittings:
a) Conduit fittings – all conduit fittings shall be constructed of steel or malleable iron. They shall be compression type only. Set screw type and die cast types shall not be used.
b) Condulets shall be either threaded aluminum or malleable iron. Set screw type shall not be used.
c) Metal clad, armored cable or flexible metallic conduit connectors shall be malleable iron or steel, with malleable iron or steel locknuts. Die cast fittings or locknuts shall not be used.
4. Boxes:
a) Boxes shall be steel, malleable iron or aluminum, of the appropriate size required by code.
b) Non-metallic boxes shall not be used.
5. Panel boards:
a) The panel board will be a SquareD, #NQ442L2C, or equivalent, with a 42 circuit main breaker interior with copper bus, MH50 box, NC50S surface NEMA 1 front, PK27GTA ground kit, NQMB2Q main breaker adapter kit, and QBL32200 main breaker.
NOTE: For drop and suspended type of ceiling systems;
As per code, no cable and/or wiring etc…may lay directly on ceiling tile or grid. All cable and/or wiring shall be independently supported at the required interval.
GENERAL
1. The contractor shall provide all labor and material, transportation and supervision in the performance of all tasks detailed in this statement of work.
2. Contractor shall be a licensed Electrical Contractor.
3. Contractor shall comply with all codes; N.F.P.A., Local codes, ordinances and Academy required specifications.
4. Contractor shall comply with all O.S.H.A. regulations.
5. All work is to conform to federal, state and local regulations and codes.
6. Maintain a work area compliant with safety standards.
7. Areas worked on shall be cleaned and secured on a daily basis.
8. Any damage to existing facilities or appurtenances shall be repaired or replaced in kind, by the contractor at no cost to the Government.
9. Examine existing conditions prior to any repair activities, site visit will be scheduled to inspect the site where services are to be performed.
10. Excess material and debris shall be disposed of in accordance with local and state ordinances.
11. No vehicles shall be driven on the sidewalks or grass.
12. Make every effort to minimize the impact to the daily routine of the Academy.
13. Contractors shall be licensed, bonded and insured as mandated by federal, state and municipal regulations.
CLOSE OUT:
The contractor shall provide a signed warranty of any damage, defective material and improper workmanship on any material provided in this contract.
Materials and labor to be warranted for one year after installation, and equipment to be warranted per manufacturer

CONSIDERATIONS
• Submit schedule seven (7) days in advance of work to be accomplished for approval.
• Submit schedule showing area to be worked on, dates of work, and estimated timeline for completion of the task(s).
• Maintain communication with the COR (and immediately inform the COR of any unforeseen issues or problems that arise).
• Inform COR of any anticipated disruption in services for construction at least three (3) days in advance
PLACE OF PERFORMANCE
Contractor will perform the task at Furuseth Hall located at the USMMA, 300 Steamboat Road, Kings Point, N.Y. 11024.
PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE
Work is to be completed within 14 calendar days after NTP is approved. Work is to be performed during normal business hours 0700 to 1630, Monday through Friday unless approval is granted by the Contracting Officer.
