Section 625. — TURF ESTABLISHMENT
01/01/14–FP14
Construction Requirements
625.03 General. Delete the text of this Subsection and substitute the following:
Apply turf establishment to finished slopes and ditches only at times when local weather conditions are favorable for growth which normally will occur between September 15 and November 30, or between February 15 and May 15. Do not apply turf establishment during windy weather or when the ground is excessively wet, frozen, snow covered, extremely dry, cloddy, hard pan, or not friable. The Contractor shall be responsible to protect and maintain the seeded areas until germination, including watering if necessary.
625.06 Fertilizing. Add the following:
Apply fertilizer at the rate recommended by the manufacturer.
625.07 Seeding. Add the following to paragraph (b):
Apply the seed at the rate of 54 pounds of live seed per ACRE. Apply seed prior to the installation of rolled erosion control product.
625.08 Mulching. Delete the second and third paragraphs of paragraph (b) and substitute the following:
Apply Bonded Fiber Matrix at a rate of 2000 pounds per ACRE upon completion of seeding and fertilizing applications. This rate does not apply to mulch for tracer applied under Subsection 625.07 (b), Seeding, Hydraulic Method.
Measurement
625.11 Add the following:
Do not measure water used for turf establishment for payment.

Section 713. — ROADSIDE IMPROVEMENT MATERIAL
08/01/14–FP14
713.03 Fertilizer. Add the following:
(a) Fertilizer for turf establishment. Furnish fertilizer with the following percentages of available nutrients:
24:3:8 Nitrogen (N): Phosphorus (P): Potassium (K), with a minimum 15% slow-release nitrogen.
713.04 Seed. Add the following:
Furnish a mixture consisting of the following kinds of seed with the corresponding percentages by weight of “live seed”:
GRASSES
Red Fescue (Festuca rubra) 14.8% Tegmar Intermediate Wheatgrass (Thinopyrum intermedium) 14.8% Bluebunch Wheatgrass (Pseudoroegnaria spicata) 18.4% Sandberg Bluegrass (Poa secunda J. Presl) 9.3% Siberian Wheatgrass (Agropyron fragile [Roth]) 14.8%
LEGUME
Ladak Alfalfa (Medicago sativa) 9.3%
NATIVE FORBS
Rocky Mountain Penstemon (Penstemon strictus Benth.) 9.3%5 Western Yarrow (Achillea millefolium L.) 9.3%5
Determine the amount of “live seed” in a container by the following formula:
Net weight of seed in container multiplied by the purity percentage multiplied by the germination percentage. (If seed is 85 percent pure and tests 90 percent germination, then a 100 pound (45.4 kilogram) container would contain 76.5 pounds (34.7 kilograms) of “live seed”).
