Questions Answers
1 Clarification of Note 6 on Sheet 1 of 2 Option X Erosion Control
Plan (RECP shall include seeding?)
a. Is this seeding separate from the seeding on the Bid
Schedule? Bid Schedule shows 0.5 Acres of Hydro-seeding but Schedule A and Option X RECP is more than that.
For Option X, pay item 62901-0000 Rolled Erosion Control Product includes the seeding required for the associated area, and is separate from the seeding in pay item 62510-2000. Note that seeding is not allowed with the Schedule A rolled erosion control product.
2 Clarification of sequence and materials application rates for Item
62510-2000. (What are the materials and application rates and what sequence are they applied)?
a. For instance; Mulch, Fertilizer, Seed, Tackifier, Dye
b. Application rates for each
c. One step hydro-seeding, two step hydro-seeding, etc…
Construct consistent with the requirements of Section 625 of the Special
Contract Requirements and Standard Specifications.
3 Page E-121 of the Project Specifications calls for seed to be applied at 35lbs/acre but the seed mix listed only amounts to 11.25lbs/acre
The seed mix application rate in Section 625.03 (Page E-121), second paragraph, last sentence is revised from 35 lbs/acre to 11.25 lbs/acre which now matches the seed mix table total.
4 Clarification of sequence and materials application rates for Item
62515-2000. (What are the materials and application rates and what sequence are they applied)?
a. What type of Mulch? Wood, straw, etc…
b. Tackifier
c. Other
d. Application rates for each
Construct consistent with the requirements of Section 625.08, 713.05 and
713.11 of the Special Contract Requirements and Standard
Specifications.
5 What sheet shows the location of areas to be hydro-seeded? For Option X, see Sheets E1 and E2. Areas are designated by hatching which is defined by the Legend on Sheet A2.
6 What Sheet/s show Temporary Plastic Fence?
For Schedule A and Option X, see E-Series Sheets.
7 This project has a bid item for System Installation, Changeable
Message Sign. Item No. 63601-5000. Plan Sheet 84 says this work is shown in section T, Permanent Traffic Control.
Where is the work for this item shown in the plans. I didn’t see it in section T or any other section.
See Special Contract Requirements Section 635.07 – Construction Signs
(Page E-138) which calls for the use of at least 2 changeable message signs to inform public traffic for Schedule A. Contractor will incorporate the changeable message signs into their traffic control plan for SR-89 and compliance with the Caltrans encroachment permit.

8 Please clarify electrical infrastructure currently in place that we will be tying into and use.
Conduit and pull boxes shown on Sheets W1 and W2 are existing. This infrastructure should be used to route cable and connect to County
Lighting Standard. Existing Service location is indicated on Sheet W2, key note 1.
9 Stone Masonry Rock specs says rock used is to be natural to the area in color, shape, and size. Is there current Stone Masonry in place to match? Clarification of actual rock to be used for the wall is requested for pricing and trucking purposes.
The intent is to use rock that matches the type of rock you would find in the project area and Lake Tahoe Area. As an example, the entrance to
Meeks Bay Resort has some stone masonry that is already in place. See photo below.

10 According to our engineers a 4” deck with glass fiber reinforcing concrete deck is not appropriate for a H10 vehicle load. Our experience leads us to believe that a 6” concrete deck with rebar is what will be required. Please confirm this is acceptable.
Sheet S3 states a ‘4” min GFR deck’ so a minimum of 4” was the intent.
The deck design depends on the floor beam arrangement, deck pans used and rebar amount. A 6” deck with rebar seems appropriate. Please note the deck thickness will most likely vary based on 2% cross slope and the concrete will still require SRA & Fibers with the inclusion of rebar.
11 Please confirm the bridge manufacturer can set the backwall height and ultimate truss height so long as the 4’-6” minimum distance from the top of deck to top chord is achieved.
This is correct. The truss dimensions were approximated in the plans.
The 4’-6” min distance from the top of deck to top chord is required. It was intended for the contractor to coordinate the final dimensions with fabricator shop drawings for the steel truss pedestrian bridge. Please note the beam seat and anchor bolt dimensions are also to be coordinated with the fabricator of the steel truss pedestrian bridge.
