About this file
This document is a Certification Regarding Investments in Iran form issued by the State of Maryland, Board of Public Works, pursuant to State Finance & Procurement Articles 17-701 through 17-707. The certification applies to all procurements and contract renewals with Maryland State Agencies and public bodies within the state. Bidders and contractors must certify that they are not identified on the Investment Activities in Iran list maintained by the Board of Public Works and that they are not engaging in investment activities in Iran as defined by state law. The form requires completion by an authorized representative and witness signature, with space provided for contractors unable to make the required certification to explain their investment activities in Iran.
The certification defines "engaging in investment activities in Iran" as either providing goods or services of at least $20 million in Iran's energy sector or, for financial institutions, extending credit of at least $20 million for at least 45 days to entities on the Investment Activities in Iran list for use in Iran's energy sector. Companies listed as engaging in investment activities in Iran are ineligible to bid on, submit proposals for, or renew contracts with Maryland state agencies or public bodies, and this ineligibility extends to all parent companies, successors, subsidiaries, or entities under common ownership or control of listed companies. The law applies only to new contracts and renewals; existing contracts with listed companies need not be terminated. The Investment Activities in Iran list is available on the Board of Public Works website.
