About this file

This document is a Bid Bond Preparation Instructions template issued by the West Virginia State Agency for use in conjunction with the Tower Demolition Services contract opportunity. The instructions provide detailed guidance for contractors submitting bids to the Purchasing Section of the Department of Administration. The bid bond must accompany the principal contractor's proposal and serves as a binding commitment that the bidder will enter into a written contract if their bid is accepted and will furnish any additional bonds and insurance as required by the solicitation documents.

The bid bond requirements specify that the minimum acceptable bond amount is five percent of the total bid amount, which may be stated either as a percentage or as a specific dollar figure. The surety executing the bond must be licensed in West Virginia to transact surety insurance, must affix its corporate seal, and must attach a power of attorney with its seal affixed. The bond remains in full force and effect unless the bid is rejected or the principal enters into a contract and performs all obligations as specified in the accepted bid. The surety's liability is expressly limited to the penal amount stated in the bond, and the surety waives notice of any extensions of time granted by the obligee for bid acceptance.
