About this file

This document is a Scope of Work for a reforestation project organized by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) Division of Forest Resources. The IDNR seeks an experienced reforestation contractor to plant 52,200 live, cold-dormant tree seedlings across 72 acres in five separate counties and locations in Northern and Central Illinois. The work must be completed between March 15, 2022 and May 15, 2022, with herbicide treatments completed by June 15, 2022. The contractor must have experience planting hardwood reforestation seedlings on 15 acres or more within the last 5 years, own necessary equipment, and have experienced staff with commercial pesticide applicator licenses.

The contractor will be responsible for transporting, handling, and storing the seedlings per IDNR technical specifications, and planting them at a density of 726 seedlings per acre in rows 10 feet apart. The contractor must also apply herbicide treatments to suppress and control weed and grass competition. Payment will be invoiced individually for each of the five planting sites, and the contractor must achieve a minimum 80% survival rate for the planted stock and 70% weed control effectiveness across 90% of the treated areas.

Contractor is to complete installation of all 52,500 seedlings by May 15th, 2022 and is to pick up the seedlings from Mason Nursery just prior to planting, and notify Mason Nursery one week in advance of seedling pickup by number of seedlings for each species, Site Name, and date/time of pickup, as per the following breakdown; The provided seedlings of the following species have been chosen, designated, and ordered specifically to be mixed and randomly placed within the following sites:

Nursery upon notification by the contractor to schedule a pick up date. Upon notifying Mason

Nursery for seedling pick up the Contractor shall confirm the planting site name/s and acres, the seedling species and count, for each order to be picked up. The seedling order should be confirmed to be correct by contractor at the time of pick up and before leaving Mason Nursery.
