EVER Wayside Review April 4th, 2023

Prepared by Alan Scott

These exhibits are approved as is for English text, layout, and design:

35, 36, 37, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46a, 46c, 46d, 46e, 163, 261, 262, 161, 175, 174, 177, 168, 169, 265, 172, 171, 173, 264, 193, 195, 187, 179, 180, 181, 182, 183, 186, 188, 189, 190, 191, 251, 254, 255, 257, 258.

Spanish Translation –The following exhibits need Spanish text corrections: 35, 38, 39, 44, 260, 45, 46a, 46b, 46e, 261a, 262, 263, 174, 176, 168, 170, 171, 192, 191, 253, 252, 256, 259, 258.

These exhibits need attention:

38 Taylor Slough

• Identity confusion - Move Pond apple label to left, over dark pond apple vegetation.

• Identity confusion - Move Bladderwort label down over bladderwort or add a note saying where to look (below). Could move or delete adjacent anhinga label as it’s a repeat.

• Incorrect Apple snail egg color. Should be white or slightly pink, not blue grey. See correct apple snail egg color in #176 custom artwork. Linked artwork to be provided by government.

• Add donor recognition label to bottom right, in space below artist signature.

“This and other exhibits at Royal Palm were made possible through generous donations from the National Park Foundation, the Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation, and the GFWC Florida Federation of Women’s Clubs.”

“Esta y otras exhibiciones en Royal Palm fueron posible gracias a la generosa donación del National Park Foundation, Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation y la GFWC Florida Federation of Women’s Clubs.”

176 Crucial and Complex

• Change Dry Season label, replace “April” with “May” in both English and Spanish (mayo).

260 Tactile Map

• Inconsistent line weight - The dots and dashes used in the legends for Anhinga Trail and Gumbo

Limbo trails appear to be different line weights (larger) than the dots and dashes used to show path of those trails.

• The #1 above the straight part of the Anhinga Trail is slightly higher above the trail than the #2’s .

Lower the #1 to match the #2’s.

46B, Ready to Launch

• Font size confusion - Except for YAH, they should all be the same size. Make all launch area labels match “Dog Kennel” size format.

164 Shark Valley

Attachment Q, List of Revisions

• Dashed line for Bobcat Boardwalk should be less of an arc (flatter), see original reference below.

261A American Alligator

• “Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation” is incorrectly spelled in the Spanish translation.

263 Sun-Powered

• Add donor recognition label to bottom right - Replace photo credit line with donor recognition:

“This and other exhibits at Shark Valley were made possible through a generous donation from the National Park Foundation and the Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation.”

“Esta y otras exhibiciones en Shark Valley fueron posible gracias a la generosa donación de la National Park Foundation y la Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation.”

263B

• Emphasize “OPEN” (“ABRA”) in layout.

o Call out Open/ Abra in all caps? Or place “OPEN” on its own line?

263C

• Change #263B (flip graphic, back) exhibit identifier from B to C

• Review text readability for ADA contracts standards and address as needed.

193 Remarkable Wetlands

• Delete the extra white blocks that show up as part of the northern park boundary, top left and right of the park map.

• Move “Everglades National Park” label to middle of the park.

#253, 256 & 259 - The Road and Its Consequences

• Resolve FPO image at bottom right. Government to provide replacement image.

End comments
