Bunk Bed Specifications 8 June 2020

1. Size Overall Size: 36.75"W x 78.75"D x 31.5"H– Accommodates a 36”Wx75”L mattress. Bed is adjustable with 2 bolts on each corner bracket in 4 positions.

- Two Bunked Beds (w/bunking adapter) – 36.75W x 78.75L x 65.25H

- Bunking adapters must precisely fit twin size mattress 36”W x 75”L

- Bed dimensions must not exceed 37”W x 79”L x 66”H (when separated/bunked) to ensure safety requirements of AFI91-203 Para 7.2.1.1.4. BMT cannot maintain the 36” inch aisle way (fixed) and 18” inch minimum (between two movable objects bed/wall locker) if 79”L is exceeded. (Dormitory space is limited and Items must be arranged IAW 737TRGOI 36-3)

2. Materials

Head and Foot frame uprights 16ga x 1.5” x 1.5” tube Head and Foot frame cross-members 16ga x 1.25” square tube Mounting plates are fusion welded to steel deck bed for adjustability 10ga Bed rail frame (4 sides) 10ga Steel Deck 16ga Cross-member deck supports 16ga

3. Construction

General assembly will consist of tubular steel head and foot frames.

a. Deck Assembly Beds must have solid steel deck/surface (no springs or wires). All components are fabricated from ASTM grade steel. End sections are of min 1.5” inch C channel steel tubing with 10ga wall thickness. Side sections are of min 1.5”inch C channel steel tubing with 10ga wall thickness. Lateral cross braces are of min. 1 inch square tubing with 16ga. wall thickness.

After each component is processed to exacting tolerances, which includes cutting and perforating, they are accurately fixtured and are finish welded to ensure frame integrity. This design greatly enhances overall strength and safety. The steel deck of 16ga is welded onto frame creating sleep surface. All components are cleaned, pickled, phosphated, and non-chromic sealed in stages to prep for powder coat paint application.

b. Head and foot frame assembly

The head frame shall consist of two head frame uprights and a minimum of 3 steel square tube cross-members which will have perimeter welds where the cross-members meet the upright.

The foot frame will consist of two uprights and 3 steel square tube cross-members spanning between the frames. The cross-member shall have a perimeter weld where the cross-members meet the upright.

The head and foot frames shall have heavy-duty polypropylene adapter caps permanently inserted in both the top and bottom of the uprights.

c. Color All Steel Powder Coated Paint – Total Eclipse (black)
