About this file
This is a Group Policy Amendment to a Standard Insurance Company disability insurance policy (Policy No. 760741-A) issued to the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners. The amendment, effective January 1, 2022, modifies the Paid Sick Leave Or Other Salary Continuation provision under the policy's Limitations section. The amendment clarifies that no Short-Term Disability (STD) benefits will be paid for any period during which an employee is receiving or is eligible to receive paid sick leave or other salary continuation from their employer, with the exception of vacation pay or donated amounts.
This amendment represents a clarification and potential limitation on benefit eligibility, ensuring that employees cannot receive duplicate benefits from both the employer's paid sick leave program and the STD insurance policy simultaneously. The modification establishes a coordination of benefits framework that prevents overlapping compensation during periods of disability-related absence, thereby managing the insurer's liability and aligning the policy with the employer's leave administration practices.
