About this file
This document is a comprehensive set of specifications for the Brush Creek/Hayden Ranger District Office Roof Replacement Project. The project involves completely removing the existing cedar wood shake shingle roof and installing a new 24-gauge (minimum) Structural Standing Seam Roof System (SSSRS) on a building located in Saratoga, Wyoming. The total roof area to be replaced is estimated at 9,600 square feet, and the work includes demolition of existing roofing materials, disposal of waste, site cleanup, and adherence to industry standards and manufacturer installation recommendations.
The specifications detail extensive technical requirements for the project, including specific sections on project management, quality control, temporary facilities, execution requirements, weather barriers, metal roof panels, and other related construction elements. The project requires careful attention to environmental conditions, with work to be performed at an altitude of approximately 6,900 feet and in an area experiencing snowfall and cold temperatures typically from mid-November through March. The Forest Service will select the roof panel color, which must be submitted by the contractor using manufacturer color swatches, and the building must remain safe and accessible to employees and the public throughout the construction process.

Appendix – Color Palette
This Appendix contains several series of electronically-scanned color chips. Within each series a number of colors have been marked as appropriate for trim, roofs or for use generally (i.e., all other portions of a structure). These colors tend to harmonize with the natural forest setting, but their use is not mandatory; rather, site-specific decisions should be bases on site-specific analyses, and colors should be chosen to blend with the particular location within which they will be used.
District Rangers who wish to use the colors of this electronic palette should note that because of differences in computer monitors and application software the electronic representations will likely not display accurately. For this reason, the electronic representations should be taken only as rough approximations and hard-copy color sheets and/or chips have been distributed to District offices for reference purposes.
Use this handbook of color chips from manufacturers Benjamin Moore and Pratt & Lambert does not constitute an endorsement by the Forest of those manufacturers.
