Amendment 00001 – Questions and Answers
1. Bid Form 1442 page 1 does not have the calendar days for acceptance listed. –
Thirty (30) days is the number of calendar day for acceptance (the SF-1442 cannot be corrected with our system).
2. Are there any liquidated damages?
There are no liquidated damages included in IFB or Award as the Government does not have an accurate way to access any costs.
3. Is the project taxable? My understanding is our projects are taxable.
4. Specification section 010150 section 1.3.A states that the work for all of the Optional Items is to be done during a two week period either at the 4th of July or at Christmas time. Options 1 and 5 can not be completed during a two week time period no matter what time of year. I am not sure about the length of time for Options 2, 3 and 4. Since there are only 120 calendar days to do the project, please explain how this work is to be phased.
The options may or may not be awarded depending on funding and cost proposal. The specification encourages the majority of the work to be completed over the summer or winter break to minimize impact to the students and staff. I would recommend completing the dining area and roof replacement work and electrical work during the summer and summer break and the dishwash room work during the winter and winter break. Also, it is stated that the 120 days are negotiable as well, because of the difficulty with scheduling a specific timeframe, when it is unknown which items beyond the base item will be awarded.
5. Specification section 074113 section 2.2.B calls for a bituminous coating for the roof panels. Where does that occur? The specification section also states that the roof panels are to be 24 gauge standing seam, 16" wide with a 1/2" height and a UL 60 wind uplift. I don't know if I have ever seen a mechanically attached roof panel system that was only 1/2" high and usually the uplift rating is UL 90.
Please verify requirements. To provide the roof curbs, as stated in section 2.4.F, we will also need the loading requirements of the units being re-installed on the roof.
Section 3.1 C calls out to use bituminous coating to prevent galvanic action between dissimilar metals or where metals attach to corrosive substrates.
The roof panels should be 2” height with a UL90 uplift rating, instead of how it is stated in Section 074113.
The loading requirements for the units being re-installed on the roof are not available. This will need to be field determined based upon the equipment type and size.
6. Does the existing roof insulation remain in place during the panel replacement?
Yes the existing roof insulation is to remain in place during the panel replacement
7. Is the Dry Storage Room area to be included under Bid Option #1? It is not included in the scope of work for that option in specification section 010150 section 2.2.C.1.
Yes, this option includes both the Dining and Dry Storage Room floor cover replacement
