BRIDGE REMOVE/REPAIR/REPLACE – HOONAH, AK

The Government received the following questions regarding the solicitation (answers to questions 1-7 were posted to FBO on March 26 and 28, 2017):

Q8: FP-03, Section 716.03 (1st para, last sentence) states “Use the type of treatment and minimum net retention of preservative shown in the plans. Where in the plans is this specified?

A8: Sheet 28, Note 3 and Sheet 29, Note 3 specifies Pentachlorophenol or Creosote. These methods are hereby deleted and replaced with the following:

“Treat in conformance with UC4B (ground contact, heavy duty) using Copper Naphthenate. Treat all timber in strict conformance with the current edition of WWPI’S “Best Management Practices For The Use Of Treated Wood In Aquatic Environments”.

The following language is added:

“Field Treatment: Field treat all abrasions and approved field cuts with three brush coats of Copper Naphthenate (2% solution). Pour the field treatment into any field-drilled holes or nail holes prior to inserting the fasteners.”
