About this file
This addendum to ITB 250349 Building 5222 Boiler Replacement is issued by the Massachusetts Military Division, Executive Office of Public Safety & Security, and addresses four requests for information (RFIs) submitted by bidders regarding the boiler replacement project at Camp Edwards, Massachusetts. The addendum clarifies that the three new ECM circulators are designated for the boiler loops and hot water tank loop; that existing building circulators and piping beyond those three units may be retained, with only domestic hot water piping requiring replacement up to the mixing valve; that the existing expansion tank must be replaced; and that both zone pumps should be sized identically rather than maintaining different sizes for the two building zones.
The addendum provides critical technical specifications to ensure bid accuracy and consistency among prospective contractors. By standardizing pump sizing across both zones and specifying the scope of piping retention versus replacement, the Massachusetts Military Division aims to establish clear expectations that reduce bidder confusion and facilitate more competitive and comparable proposals for the heating system upgrade.

ADDENDUM # 1
To all bidders on the project titled 250349 Building 5222 Boiler Replacement, please see the below RFIs and answers:
1. Do the new boiler pumps also need to be ECM pumps?
a. The new ECM circulators (3) are for the boiler loops and hot water tank loop.
2. Are we saving most of the existing boiler system piping, or are we to gut the piping in the room and start over?
a. The three building circulators can stay the same and all piping beyond those three. Domestic Hot water piping is new up to the mixing valve.
3. Is the existing expansion tank being replaced?
a. Yes, it is required to replace the expansion tank
4. It appears there are two zones in the building and that each zone has a different size pump—do you want both pumps to be the same size?
a. Please have both pumps the same size.
