6. TASK:

• All work shall be performed under the direct supervision of a land surveyor(s) licensed in the State of Tennessee. On-site inspections shall be performed by this surveyor.

• Surveyor shall sign and seal the final hard copies of the survey plats. The plats must be recordable and must meet the requirements of the State of Tennessee.

• All survey work shall meet the requirements of the State of Tennessee. Control shall be established using Global Positioning System (GPS) procedures which will provide coordinates and referenced to existing federal and state geodetic survey control. Both grid coordinates and a basis of bearings for the survey will be generated from such monuments.

• Clearing shall be kept to the minimum necessary for the survey. No trees over four inches DBH shall be felled except with permission of the COR.

• The contractor shall install monuments at all angle points. The monuments shall be 5/8” rebar at least 24” long and have a brightly colored cap and be marked with orange flagging tape. On rock outcrops a chiseled cross (painted orange) or a brass tablet securely glued to the rock will be acceptable. All items required for corner establishment shall be provided by the Contractor. Corner positions established shall meet the requirements of the State of Tennessee.

• When the boundary crosses a river or cliff a monument shall be set at a safe distance from the edge. Monuments shall be placed on both rights-of-way of all roads that the boundary crosses.

• Found monuments along the exterior boundary, permanent in nature, i.e. large corner stones, trees, concrete monuments, railroad rails shall not be replaced. In situations where iron pipes, pins or rods are found at corners to be monumented, the pipe/pin/rod shall remain and be referenced on the plat.

• The Contractor shall use orange flagging tape to mark all trees (over eight inches in diameter) within sixteen inches of the property line. The Contractor shall provide all flagging tape to be used under this agreement. Flagged trees shall be intervisible.

• The contractor shall be sensitive to the adjacent property owners’ property and rights and will not infringe upon that property or those rights. Except where the adjacent property is an open public right of way, the Contractor shall approach the boundary segment from the park property, if practical. If not, the contractor shall contact adjoining property owners for permission to place traverses and temporary monumentation on private land.

• The contractor shall make a diligent effort to locate all physical evidence which could affect the location of the boundary line. Internal and external tie lines that are necessary to determine the location and placement of the exterior boundary are to be performed by the contractor as this work is necessary in establishing the exterior boundary.

• Random traverses identified with flagging or other markings that might be mistaken for the true boundary shall be removed.

• Mapping shall be done as an AutoCAD .DWG file. In addition to the hard copies, the

Contractor shall provide these plats as:

a) AutoCAD DWG file(s) (Release 2011 or later, or compatible),

b) GIS (.shp) files Geographic Coordinates, NAD 83

c) Adobe PDF file (11” x 17”) size

• The plats prepared for this project shall be complete for each Phase. If several Phases are in close proximity, they shall be on one sheet. The scale for the drawings shall vary by site. The information shown on any frozen and unfrozen layers shall be free of conflicts when displayed in a composite form. Care shall be taken in placing and labeling points and other data.

• The final plats shall illustrate the following:

a) All physical evidence of property lines and corners found such as iron pipes, stone pipes, fence lines, stone walls, witnessed trees, etc.

b) Highway route numbers, names of adjoining owners with Deed

Book and Page Number, stream names, local names of landmarks and any and all political boundaries.

c) Details of all encroachments or areas of boundary dispute.

d) Bearing and distances between all monuments and the total distance between corners. Bearings will be on the same meridian as traverse and control lines, either True North or local State Plane

Coordinate System. When the measured is different than the record, this shall be noted.

e) Bearing and distances on tie lines to any corner not on the exterior boundary but used to establish it.

f) Remainders of parent tracts to the extent that the plat size allows.

These remainder boundaries will be dashed to differentiate from the exterior boundary symbology.

g) The monuments placed and shown with the appropriate symbology and legend information for proper identification.

h) All encroachments from adjoining property or streets, such as but not limited to trails, ATV tracks, roads, gardens, lawns, structures, and the extent of such encroachments shall be shown. Area, monuments, type of encroachment and deed references will be shown on plats.

i) Property lines in conflict with the NPS boundary line, with deed calls, and acreage of abutting parcels are to be shown on the plats.

j) All buildings or other structures within 25 feet of the line.

• The contractor shall be responsible for all research necessary for completion of the survey.
