GENERAL NOTES
1. This QA test procedure is for use with VLF/LF Loop Antenna, manufactured from drawing 8628188.
For all antenna assembly item callouts in this procedure, refer to 8628188 and related drawings.
2. The manufacturer has the discretion to choose the meter(s) used for making the measurements described herein as long as they meet the precision/accuracy requirements of 0.001/5% for resistance and 10H/1% for inductance.
3. Inductance is to be measured at a test frequency of 10 kHz.
4. Resistance is to be measured at DC if possible or the lowest available frequency not to exceed 1 kHz.
5. Ensure that the meter(s) used herein are allowed to warm up for the time recommended by the manufacturer for the most accurate results.
6. When performing the electrical verification tests, all metal and substances with relative magnetic permeability >1 must be kept a minimum of four (4) feet away from the antenna to prevent interference with test readings.
7. Record meter(s) descriptions and settings and other misc. hardware used for the testing conducted herein in the tables contained on sheet 5.
8. Equipment needed for testing:
• Inductance meter and test leads
• Resistance meter and test leads
• F/A and ATH Start and Finish pins o Contact, heavy duty, crimp, pin, 8AWG o Harting P/N: 09320006109
• F/A and ATH Start and Finish sockets o Contact, heavy duty, crimp, socket, 8AWG o Harting P/N: 09320006209
• Compass
• 1.5 VDC battery and test leads
9. The QA tests contained in this drawing are intended to identify a construction that is not capable of satisfying final ANTENNA ASSEMBLY quality assurance testing before and after the construction is encapsulated with potting material. If any QA test fails, refer to the NAVSEA 8628188 assembly drawings to verify that there were no assembly mistakes.
