Section 1.0 General Information
1.1 Purpose
The Franklin County Board of Commissioners is seeking proposals on behalf of the Franklin County Office on Aging for Durable Medical Equipment. The awarded contractor will be awarded a firm and fixed pricing contract for a two-year period upon approval of the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, and includes up to three additional one-year extension options.
1.2 Organization Background and Overview
Franklin County Office on Aging provides information and access to community services which enable Franklin County residents, 60 years old and over, to live independently. Franklin County’s population is changing and continues to change. Throughout the nation, the elderly are the fastest-growing segment of the population. According to the U.S. Census Bureau projections, the elderly population will more than double by 2050. As more people live longer, we can experience an increase in those who face chronic, limiting illnesses or conditions that result in people becoming dependent on others for help in performing the activities of daily living. Given our understanding of the functional limitations, which come with increased age, the demand for in-home services is going to grow.
