RFQ No. 70Z085-19-Q-P4503500
USCG MALLET DS FY19
AMENDMENT NO: 04
The following answers are provided for RFQ question:
1) Question:
In the scope of work for D-019: “Exhaust Stacks Repair” paragraph 3.3.3 calls out for the contractor to “prepare and coat the Exhaust stack interior surfaces and including all adjacent structural members…” and then the next paragraph calls out for touch-up preservation.
Is it the intent of the Coast Guard to have the contractor prepare and preserve 100% of the interior surfaces of both port and starboard exhaust stack uptake spaces?
Based on the nature of the repairs required by the scope and the extent of the steel plate to be disturbed the contractor believes the intent is to prepare and preserve the areas affected during repairs only. There will be a large deficiency between bids if some contractors include 100% preservation and others only include preservation in way of repairs made. Please advise.
Answer:
The intent of Work Item #19 (Exhaust Stacks Repair) is for contractor to repair or renew approximately ten (10) total square feet (sporadic locations) of Exhaust Stack plating, port and starboard; as denoted in paragraph 1.1. The contractor shall submit a price to preserve all disturbed and renewed surfaces in accordance with referenced 'Exhaust Stack Preservation' and 'Touch-up preservation' paragraphs.
This work item does not require 100% preservation of exhaust stack spaces.
