RFQ No. 70Z085-19-Q-P4503500

USCG MALLET DS FY19

AMENDMENT NO: 01

The following answers are provided for RFQ questions:

1) Question:

In work Items 10, 11, 17, 22, 23, 25, 26, and 27 the following Disclosure is stated;

“3.1.5.1 Disclosure - lead. The Contractor shall be aware of the presence of lead in excess of 0.009 percent by weight (0.018 mg/cm2, or 90 ppm), in the existing primer coat(s) for the bilge coating system. “

Some of these areas are known to have lead paint and or lead dust present in the overhead and bulkheads where the disclosure states only in bilge. For example the lead paint in the pilothouse is around the window frames on plating and the overhead has lead paint present, it is not near the bilge coating system.

Can you clarify where the lead paint and or lead dust is in reference to the task in the work items. Under the standard specifications lead dust samples should be taken prior to work in those areas as well as adjoining spaces as well as post samples in order to determine if lead dust was present or created by the work performed. Will this be required?

Answer:

The lead is located in the primer coat of the potential work areas/surfaces of the listed work items. The lead paint/dust is in reference to the task in the work items, not solely limited to bilge areas. Prior and post samples will be required.

2) Question:

Spec states “Renew components according to Cornell Carr Sliding Window CC- 1038”. This statement is very broad as there are many parts, friction latches, tape springs, bumper stops, window glass and slide liners just to name a few, and leaves contractor to guess which parts are being requested to be replaced. Contractor requests CG determine which components need to be replaced.

Answer:

Please refer to Specification Section 3.5.1:

“3.5.1 The Contractor shall install the window with a new gasket, new felt, new stainless steel mounting hardware, Type 316 and sealing compound in accordance with MIL-A-46106. Gasket material shall be synthetic rubber sheet per MIL-PRF- 1149. Adjust window rubber stopper.”
