About this file

This document contains answers to questions regarding Amendment 1 for the drydocking of the USCGC THETIS. The amendment provides clarification on painting and decal requirements for identification markings. It confirms that Coast Guard emblems are normally decals while other markings such as stripes and hull numbers are to be painted according to specifications. For work item 016 on flushing the hydraulic system, cleaned fluid that meets cleanliness standards can remain in the system though any lost fluid must be replaced. Work item 023 confirms the vessel crew will remain aboard as the duty section during drydocking. For work item 024, duty section berthing for both male and female crew is required for the duration of the lodging contract and must be separated by gender. Numbers will be provided by the cutter. Regarding work item 016 again, the amendment states that replaced hydraulic oil does not need to be disposed of if it tests clean after flushing. Work item 027 confirms that if lead paint is found, a condition report will be submitted but all lead paint was previously removed during midlife repairs.
