About this file

This is a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for United 894 ZYME-OUT, a degassing agent and odor eliminator product manufactured by United Laboratories, Inc., prepared in support of the City of Detroit Office of Contracting and Procurement's request for proposals to provide drain cleaning services at City facilities. The document, issued February 16, 2012 and revised February 24, 2015, provides comprehensive safety and handling information for the chemical product that will be utilized in the drain cleaning services contract, which carries a three-year term. The product is a red liquid with a strong vanilla odor, supplied by United Laboratories, Inc. located at 320 37th Avenue, St. Charles, Illinois 60174, with emergency contact available through INFOTRAC at 1-800-535-5053 for North America and 1-352-323-3500 for international inquiries.

The product does not meet hazardous criteria under the 2012 OSHA Hazard Communication Standard, though the SDS notes that 0.96% of the mixture consists of ingredient(s) of unknown toxicity. The chemical is non-toxic and biodegradable, with a pH of 7-8, complete water solubility, and specific gravity of 1.01. First-aid measures address eye contact, skin contact, inhalation, and ingestion exposure routes, with potential symptoms including skin and eye irritation and gastrointestinal effects from large quantity ingestion. The product is not regulated for transportation under DOT, IATA, or IMDG standards, contains no carcinogens listed by OSHA, IARC, or NTP, and is compliant with TSCA and California Proposition 65 requirements. Storage conditions require tight container closure in dry, cool, well-ventilated areas away from freezing temperatures and strong oxidizing agents, with small spill amounts permissible to flush through sanitary sewers subject to local authority approval.
