Questions and Answers during Advertisement for CO FTNP ROMO 11(4) Beaver Meadows Road
December 3, 2019
Questions Answers 1 Please provide source and price for project construction water.
It is the Contractor’s responsibility to obtain a water source.
2 Please refer to Drawing Sheet No. B01. Pay Item Number 62028-1000 refers to “Remove and Reset Stone Masonry Headwall”. Where is this wall located? Are there details in the drawings that pertain to this item for pricing purposes?
On Sheet B1, the quantity for item 62028-1000 Remove and Reset Stone Masonry Headwall is under the column that refers you to Sheet B10, Drainage Summary.
Sheet B10 shows the location to be 2933+72 Rt. You can also view the location on Sheet C10. The intent is to remove and reset the existing stone masonry headwall on the extended pipe culvert end. No details are provided, please refer to Section 620 of the FP-14.
3 Does the hydromulch have to be specifically Aspen wood or will standard 100% wood fiber mulch be acceptable? Please see attached spec section.
The hydraulic mulch will need to meet the specifications in the contract, including the 100% Aspenwood fibers conforming to Subection 713.05.
4 There appears to be a deficit of topsoil on the project. Does the owner have another source for suitable topsoil?
It is the Contractor’s responsibility to find a suitable source for the deficit topsoil.
5 On sheet number B09 the Grading Summary identifies topsoil removed in cut areas as being unavailable for fill areas. Does the owner plan to allow the use of the 578 cy of topsoil stripped in fill areas as fill?
No, the intent is to use all stripped topsoil (both from cut and from fills) as part of “Placing Conserved Topsoil.”
6 Please see attached specification in reference to Erosion Control Fiber Rolls. Most standard 9” Excelsior erosion logs weigh approximately
1.2 – 1.6 lb/ft. We are not aware of a manufacturer that can meet the 3 lb/ft as specified. In addition, we are not aware of a biodegradable netting that will meet the 24 month longevity requirement. The current biodegradable netting on the market today is not certified or recommended for a 24 month functional longevity. Biodegradable netting is estimated to have a functional longevity of 12 months or less depending upon the environmental conditions. Please advise on how to proceed.
Please refer to Amendment A002.
7 What will the process be for construction materials to gain access to the work zones? Will trucks carrying construction materials be required to wait at the park entrance for processing like any other vehicle?
Comply with Section 108.01 and 156 of the SCR’s for limit of operations and for limits of construction caused delays to public traffic. The Construction traffic will have access via the fast pass lane through the entrance station; however, during high season there will be queuing in the fast pass lane. For work before the entrance station, construction traffic will be in the public traffic queue.
