About this file
This document is a Q&A file for the James River Reserve Fleet Fire Detection System Upgrade solicitation. The questions and answers provide specific technical details about the fire detection system upgrade for Buildings 2606 and 2612 on a base facility. Key details include building sizes (Building 2606 is approximately 6,700 sq. ft., Building 2612 is around 2,000 sq. ft.), confirmation that Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs) do not apply, and requirements for the fire alarm system. The responses indicate that no proprietary fire alarm brand is required, the current Mass Notification System connected to a Monaco notification unit must be maintained, and the buildings are office/working spaces with no need for a VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus) system. The contractor will need to coordinate with the base fire department's Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) during the system upgrade.
